| #1idontmuchcareforitOct 13, 2008 10:20:45 | I've never seen a build that uses this feat, and i think that it has alot of potential. I'd like to see one that really works. As a rogue, you pick up wisdom as a new stat needed, but you can still dump cha and str and even int to a lesser degree. Having a high wisdom helps with the classically low rogue will save anyway. Rogue builds are always feat starved and even though acetic rogue makes it need another one, monk provides a lot of feats. Evasion is redundant, which is unfortunate. My last DM ruled that redundant evasion counted as improved evasion, which would certainly be worthwhile at level 4. To avoid that problem, i think i might only take 1 level of rogue. Something like... Rogue 1/ monk7/ not sure what goes here, but most prc's require 5 bab The saves are awesome, Lots of sneak attack, nice class skills. Flurry of blows can't be beat for a rogue, imho. + attacks means more damage. Stunning Fist is unbeatable for rogues, +2 on DC when using SA! My major question here is what should the feats be, and what should the PrC be? No campaign setting books are allowed in my campaign, nor are ToB, ToM, or MoI, but feel free to post stuff that includes those books if you like. |

| #3idontmuchcareforitOct 13, 2008 15:05:15 | then you're swapping will saves for skills basically... minor improvement i think. What about stunning fist though, wouldn't that still key off wisd? |
| #4Vitarri_WhitemaneOct 13, 2008 15:08:45 | I believe kung-fu genius converts all wisdom based monk abilities to intelligence. I could be wrong though. |
| #5kurashuOct 13, 2008 19:49:05 | Monk 1/Scout 3/Rogue 16 With Swift Ambusher and Ascetic Rogue. Take Kung-Fu Genius as well. Note: Ascetic Rogue only stacks for Unarmed Damage not Sneak Attack, text > table. |
| #6gorfnad_the_shiznitOct 14, 2008 1:10:39 | I believe kung-fu genius converts all wisdom based monk abilities to intelligence. I could be wrong though. That is correct. Kung Fu Genius is from Dragon #319 Carmendine Monk is from Champions of Valor and lets you "study" to gain additional monk level type bonuses as well as changing monk abilities to Int. |
| #7idontmuchcareforitOct 14, 2008 11:07:01 | why scout? What does scout give you? Trapfinding is redundant and uncanny dodge is redundant... wait [reading] wow, that's alot of bonus damage. You'd have to be blinking or invisible to get it all off, and you'd never get a full attack. Doesn't seem worth it, i think i'd rather go kung fu genius and take levels in swashbuckler for int synergy and then do daring outlaw and what about xp penalties? monk1/scout3/rogue 16 takes alot of them, even as a human. |
| #8brainpiercingOct 14, 2008 12:27:05 | why scout? Make it Monk2 and you don't. I don't find it wasted, since you can take a variant monk with better bonus feats. Something should fit. Now what you need is Travel Devotion and a belt of Battle, OR add in a level of Lion Totem Barb with any way to charge around corners. Then you can pounce right into flanking position. |
| #9idontmuchcareforitOct 14, 2008 15:04:53 | The first option there seems fairly deadly. Unless your favorite class was rogue you'd have to do some shifting around w/ classes: rogue 1/monk 2/ scout 3/ rogue 15 that's probably better anyway for extra skills. how do we nix the redundancy between scout and rogue though? |
| #10ninjarabbitOct 14, 2008 16:34:42 | Complete Mage has a variant that lets you trade evasion for spell reflection, useful if you have evasion from 2 different sources. |
| #11muertogOct 14, 2008 18:26:35 | why scout? 3 words for you: Travel Devotion [domain] Abuses the heck out of scout, and then you only have to figure a way to trigger the rogue ability. Improved invisibility is always fun. For a way of trading redundant class features, check this old thread (anyone know of an updated version?): http://forums.gleemax.com/wotc_archive/index.php/t-721864 I thought I saw a way to swap the rogue's improved evasion (level 11+) to give all adjacent allies evasion... I would go for the Scout 3, Monk 2, -then- RogueX... avoids issues with multi-classing monks and picky DMs. Scouts also get the same number of skill points per level, and allows you to put all the rogue points into UMD. |
| #12kurashuOct 14, 2008 19:44:35 | Scout gives you skirmish, that's what scout gives you. You're not losing anything except three effective levels of monk and two bonus feats. Find a way to get pounce, shouldn't be too hard. Go around being a complete BA and punch people in the face and deal a butt-ton of damage. |
