Aventi, darkness & attacking underwater?

It doesn't say the Aventi can see in the dark or even that they have low-light vision but wouldn't they need it to swim farther under the water? Also why don't they have "freedom of movement" under water? Shouldn't they know how to attack under water?

Is there more info on the Aventi other than that in Stormwrack?
