Okay, so my buddy in the party is a Dwarf Fighter 2. He's got a +1 mod in dex and +2 in Str. He really wants to throw axes in combat. What is the best way of doing this? I was looking at master thrower, but since he's using axes, he won't be able to use Palm Throw. I really don't know what to tell him. :/

I'd say Bloodstorm Blade from the Tome of Battle.

just because he won't be able to use palm throw is no reason to forget the whole class. There are still plenty of useful abilities.

Focusing on strength may not be a bad idea -- sure, it costs an extra feat or two to be effective, but it may be worth it. Take a level of fighter with the dwarven racial substitution level that gives you wpn spec with ALL axes; and now he also has viable melee option.

since he's using axes, deadeye shot is a no-brainer. after that, it depends on what else the character has going on build-wise.

If reflavoring is allowed, the other decent thrown weapons option is Halfling Whisperknife, from Races of the Wild. Fighter 2/Scout 3/Warblade X/Bloodstorm Blade X (season to taste) is probably as solid an option as available to him in furthering his role and combat style, unless his mental stats are strong enough to dip into a caster class.

Don't forget about the brutal throw feat from CAdv.

Thanks a lot, everyone. I'll check it out and let you know what sticks and what doesn't.

You mean, aside from the OP?

Hammer of Moradin might be worth a look if you're able to reflavor a bit, by the way.

Have him take throw anything, point blank shot, and farshot then buy gauntlets of extended range. This allows him to throw anything without a range increment 40ft. if your DM lets the bonuses from farshot and gauntlests of extended range stack.

I was working out the reqs for BSBlade, and I noticed the 8 ranks of balance required. That's painful for a fighter, seeing as it's an untrained skill. It would take 13 levels of fighter to reach that! So, obviously Warblade will need to be multi classed to Fighter 2/ Warblade 4 (Fighter 3/ Warblade 3 is possible as well, but inferior). Then he'd meet the reqs for BSBlade.

What feats would a character like this HAVE to have?

-PB Shot (It's a req for BSBlade)
-Brutal Throw (His Str is higher than his Dex)

I have no idea what ToB feats to pick, either.

Nothing, eh? I'm mildly disappointed.

*Rummages threw my own library*

Consider taking Stone power over Power attack. For req feats requiring Power attack, Stone power can take the place of it.

Example.....Stone power, Cleave, great cleave. Instead of Power attack, cleave, great cleave.

You dont neccessarily need to take any feats from TOB, but some stances and maneuvers would work with your build.

If your looking for a Thrower type build and if your DM isnt a B@stard.

http://forums.gleemax.com/showpost.php?p=10140235#post10140235 try that, its not a dwarf but it would still work regardless.

Maxx out Str and if your really into a weird mood, see if your DM would allow a Half-giant/half thrikreen . Get best of both worlds, arms and ability boosts of the Kreen, head maybe? and the stats of the half giant . Thats a +3 LA (If you throw out the psionic stuff of the kreen to lower the LA to a +1). Now you can take advantage of the high str, and everything with your large size. Toss in magic items to reduce your size or expand your size?, toss in some levels of Psi warrior for the Expansion/Reduce stuff? to make things a bit easier? or buy items with that stuff currently on them?.

If I wanted too I could do that right now in a current campaign LOL got enough levels to play with so why not?. Paragon half giant/half kreen, then toss in that template stuff, depending on your DM youll get a +11 Paragon creature, +1 kreen, +2 half giant, for a total of a +14 LA, ECL would be a 18 tho, but I dont think it matters with the paragon stuff and your already increased conn would more then make up for the lack of HP sense the Paragon creature template state's in the HD block thing, D12 +12 per HD + con. and right now if you followed that build You would only need 11 lvls for pure carnage. +30 to all attacks melee and Ranged if I read correctly. +25 damage to melee and ranged (Again if I read correctly). Your tossing out what? 16 attacks already? hmmmm +300 (Rounded off) damage to 16 attacks if they all hit?

If I wanted too I could go to my epic lvl game right now with that type of build and not care if I lived or died. I would do it just for the pure fun of it.

Even if you tossed out the Large size of the Half giant thing, Still it would be a blast. Hmmmmm, im tempted to make it up right now and see what happens :D

You would be a good melee and ranged combatant but I believe I went off topic, sorry
