OK, my basic idea came from noticing that the Imperious Command + Intimidating Rage + Instantaneous Rage combination requires a Charisma of 15... not a far cry from the 16 that makes it kind of worthwhile to have Divine Grace.

It's a Faerun game. No Tome of Battle, despite my CONSTANT AND UNSWERVING devotion to the Sublime Way.

Books allowed- anything, but on a case-by-case basis. I'm free to make up my own stuff. I introduced the DM to DND more than 10 years ago and we've been playing since then. Lion Totem is unavailable.

My original plan:
Orc (Goblin Defense Fund version: no Charisma penalty)

Deity: Talos
1: Barb, (Imperious Command)
2: Pally of Slaughter
3: Pally of Slaughter (Intimidating Rage)
4: Barb
5: Barb
6: Barb (Instantaneous Rage)
7: Barb (trade Uncanny Dodge for Weapon Focus: Longspear)
8: Divine Champion
9: Divine Champion (Power Attack bonus, OPEN FEAT [Extra Rage?])
10: Divine Champion
11: Divine Champion (Cleave bonus)
12: Divine Champion (Destructive Rage)
13: Frenzied Berserker
14: "
15: " (Open Feat)
16: "
17: "
18: " (Open Feat)
19: "
20: "

Realistically, we won't get past 14th or 15th level. We're not into (well, he's not into) high level play.

The point of this warrior, aside from being really mean and worshiping a god of Destruction, is that he's actually using a mental stat to advantage by means of Rage, and getting that as a bonus to his Will save and thus defending his weak point: also being able to use wands of Clear Mind, Protection from Law, and Vision of Glory.

Furthermore, he has abilities called Rage, Frenzy, and Divine Wrath; which he can use all at once! The fact that he can get that nuts with a Clear Mind and a Vision of Glory amuses me.

The rest of the party is an Lesser Drow Archivist/Thaumaturgist, a Lesser Drow (formerly goblin but reincarnated by the archivist) Sorcerer (we give them access to a wizard domain of their choice at 2nd level, he chose Necromancy: he gets bonus feats as a wizard as well), and a multiclass, bizarre Moon-Warded Ranger (Dragon) 2 / Soulknife 2/ Fighter (Targeteer) 1/ Soulbow.

What version of orc is that, and taking away the charisma penalty is one less reason to play an orc! (off the top of my head the intelligence and wisdom penalty's are the other two reasons to play an orc)

Check out the feat headlong rush in races of fearun. No self respecting orc goes without it.

p.s. Sorry about no tome of battle, An orc crusader of gruumsh is a beloved sight to see. Except when he's getting you kicked out of cities for openly speaking to Gruumsh

Dragonborn water half-orcs are basically pure lulz, though that would force good-aligned on ye... I'm a big fan of mobility, and flight in a campaign where it is rare is really important. I seco nd headlong rush. I suggest, also, that you read over Endairire's seminal Red Raiding Hood. If you desire moar, I have me old King Vertigo sketch. A lot of this won't suit you perfectly, but...

That's where the Orc we're using comes from.
+4 Strength, -2 Intelligence, -2 Wisdom
30' speed, 60' darkvision, +2 to Intimidate and Survival, -2 to Diplomacy and Bluff. Light Sensitive, Favored Class: Barbarian

Indeed, Crusader is my favorite ToB class, too. It's a shame I can't use this TOTALLY APPROPRIATE and BALANCED class. Are you listening, DM?

Anyway...

Headlong Rush: that'll be better than Extra Rage in this build. In our campaigns, we rarely go all the way to 4 encounters per day. The Sorcerer has Rope Trick, so.... we rest when we want to, and the Archivist likes to drop spells like he was a Focused Specialist.

Oh, regarding Flight/Mobility/Etc: the Archivist feels (rightly?) that he's done his job if he puts a bunch of buffs (invariably Fly and Free Movement) on me and relaxes Invisible while I kill the enemies that the Sorcerer has conveniently debuffed.

Your archivist is close to grasping the great truth, which is that the sweet ship murder must sail.

Oh the Archivist is quite understanding of my situation, really... he goes so far as to send his undead minions into battle ahead of me, buff me, compel the Sorcerer to buff me also, personally fashion wands for me, and give me first pick of the magic items.

We use the Bundled Feat rules, btw, and he took the Magic Item Crafting Bundle: so he can make pretty much whatever he wants. Prerequisite spells aren't a big deal for an Archivist, apparently. Thanks to him I have exactly the gear I need, and the buff spells I need. Between him and the Sorcerer, I'm the Blindsighted, Free Moving, Flying dude charging into the Grease, Solid Fog, Black Tentacles zone.

I really can't complain there. I just want to be sure I don't waste their invested resources with a weak build. And I'm kind of concerned, what with Power Attack appearing at 9th level... on the other hand, I made a Hydra cower fearfully from my instantaneous rage, and now it's a zombie ;)

I'd go 4 levels of paladin of slaughter, rebuke undead can fuel divine feats like divine might and divine vigor.

Leap Attack is good for extra power attack damage.

My character is, shall we say, of somewhat limited mental faculties. Suffice it to say that he is grateful that one always receives one skill point per level, and let's hope the sorcerer's familiar doesn't challenge him to a chess match.

Am I better off putting ranks in Jump and using Leap Attack, or putting them in Intimidate (and Never Outnumbered) to use Imperious Command + Intimidating Rage?

Um, the DC to make a jump check to use Leap Attack is soooo pathetically low that you should be able to meet it with the minimum ranks required to take the feat. All other feats should go to Intimidate.

Note that unless your DM allows you to save skill points between levels, you'll never be able to take Never Outnumbered. If you only get 1 skill point, and you need 2 to put points in the skill, you'll be in rough shape.

Yeah I get to save them between levels.
