basic idea is as follows:
-barbarian with whirling frenzy rage variant
-brutal throw
-ranger dip for twf without the dex requirement
-exotic weapon master for some ticks (reduce twf penalties to -1/-1, no AoO for exotic ranged weapons)

-this is a practical optimization, so the lower the level the better
-as nice as it seems, bloodstorm blade is complicated, and my DM doesnt have the book (which means no lightning ricochet, so i would need quickdraw)

entry requirements to EWM are easy, and the perks outweigh the feat cost of EWP. im leaning toward throwing hammers from RoS, for the longer range increment.

left to resolve:
-do i need things like point blank and precise shot?
-can someone recommend a useful race with no level adjust? [desert half-orc?]
-should the dip be in barbarian, or in ranger?
-what about things like extra rage &c.?
-can you throw 2+ harpoons?

Water Orc is the race you're looking for.

Also, try getting a half-ogre or something similar, go Hulking Hurler, and throw rocks ;)
If that's not what you like, get Leadership, a bunch of Halfling followers, and throw them around. Bonus points if you can get the Halflings to explode (somehow) on impact :p

What books are available? If ToB is available there is the Thrower class to get, for STR lovers. Master Thrower from Complete Warrior is another good one, together they're a very good combination.

The 2 Ranger levels are a very good idea, and if you have Magic Item Compendium take a look at Gloves of the Balanced Hand and Strongarm Bracers, and then take a look at the rules for combining magic items.

since you are focusing on Thrown Weapons... and want to use Brutal Throw(based on Str instead of Dex),... you dont need Point Blank Shot or Precise Shot... unless you plan to throw at creatures in melee with your Party Members.... which since you are the barbarian... you will face them first before they get to your party mates

try this:

Dragonborn Goliath

this will give you Fav Class: Fighter(Dragonborn) and Barbarian(Goliath)... and you still keep Powerful Build trait
Goliath racial traits

Goliath(RoS p56)
+4 Str,–2 Dex,+2 Con
Fav Class: Barbarian
• Medium Size
• 30’ Movement
• +2 Racial bonus on Sense Motives checks.
• Acclimated – do not take penalties due to high altitude
• Level Adjustment +1
• Powerful Build – treated as one-size larger with regards to Bull Rush, Trip, Grapple, etc., and may use weapons designed for creatures on size larger.
• Mountain Movement – treat standing long jumps and high jumps as if there was a running start –and– may make an accelerated climb without penalty.

update: books allowed: any 3.5 (no ToB, for my DM's sake)

remember kids, no LA. see OP

aside from fighter for more feat crunch, would i benefit significantly from a bit of scout, considering my fast movement from barbarian?

Bloodstorm blade deserves a mention. Although the way it works is rather odd.

zendu, you will note that on two occasions in this thread i have specified that ToB is out. furthermore, i myself have made that observation [concerning bloodstorm blade] in the original post.

i think i'll work on a build and put it up for critique.
