So I sat in a DnD game today, watching my character slowly die to an army of kobolds... and while I did I decided I would devise a character who would deal with these pesky creatures in one single round. Now sure you can come up with situations where this isn't true, but I was particularly bored and decided I would make this.

1 Barbarian / 3 Exotic Weapon Master / 10 Frenzied Beserker / 6 Fighter

Yeah, so I have Exotic Weapon Master in the levels, doesn't mean it's gonna be using a spiked chain... so if you think that just keep on reading, it's a little more interesting than that.

For the sake of argument, we'll be a Water Orc using the Elite Array.

Water Orc gives +4 str, +2 Con, -2 Int, -2 Wis, -2 Cha. Favored Class Barbarian. Means if you are using xp penalties for multiclassing that should get rid of them, although I think the stats for this PC monster are a bit much.

15, 14, 13, 12, 10, 8 Are the stats, the elite array, so lets distribute them with Racial (and level adjusted) Modifiers.

Str 15 + 4 (Racial) + 5 (Stat Boost) = 24 (+7 mod)
Dex 13 (+1 Mod)
Con 14 + 2 (Racial) = 16 (+3 Mod)
Int 10 - 2 (Racial) = 8 (-1 Mod)
Wis 12 - 2 (Racial) = 10 (I recomend this)
Cha 8 - 2 (Racial) = 6 (-2 Mod)

Levels 1-20 with Feats
1. Barbarian 1 Exotic Weapon Proficiency Greatspear (2d6 x3 crit +10ft Reach)
2. Fighter 1 Power Attack
3. Fighter 2 Destructive Rage (Bonus Feat = Cleave)
4. Fighter 3
5. Fighter 4 Imp Bull Rush
6. Fighter 5 Intimidating Rage
7. Frenzied Beserker 1
8. Frenzied Beserker 2
9. Fighter 6 Shock Trooper (Bonus Feat = Weapon Focus (Greatspear))
10. Exotic Weapon Master 1 (Uncanny Blow Ability) - Needs Revision
11. Exotic Weapon Master 2 (Flurry of Strikes Ability)
12. Exotic Weapon Master 3 Great Cleave (Double Weapon Defense Ability)
13. Frenzied Beserker 3
14. Frenzied Beserker 4
15. Frenzied Beserker 5 Monkey Grip
16. Frenzied Beserker 6
17. Frenzied Beserker 7
18. Frenzied Beserker 8 Weapon Specialization (Greatspear)
19. Frenzied Beserker 9
20. Frenzied Beserker 10

Ta-da a hero is born.

Now, for those of you who don't think much of this, lets take a look at this beasts min damage. Monkey grip gives you a 3d6 Greatspear, which is two handed, giving you the double str mod to damage ability via Exotic Weapon Master. So assuming you are able to make a full attack in one round, while frenzied and raging. You end up getting a strength score like this...

Str 24 + 10 (Frenzy) + 4 (Rage) = 38 (A +14 modifer)

On top of the fact that with Frenzied Beserker super power attack, you're able to trade 1 BA for +4 damage with your two handed Greatspear of doom. Combined with Shock Trooper which gives you your AC as a resource to pull from (God only knows you don't care about that, look at your class titles), we're set. So lets look at a full attack minimum, which is 6 attacks if you combine the Frenzied Beserkers Ability with the Flurry of Strikes ability granted by Exotic Weapon Master, I'll break down the damage once then we'll multiply it by six and practice our times tables.

3 (3d6) + 80 (20 out of BA at a 1:4 ratio) + 21 (Str x 1-1/2) + 2 (Weapon Specialization) = 126 Damage Per hit. Five more times...

126 x 6 = 756 Damage!

Now that's not too impressive, I've seen some people generate higher numbers than that before, I'm sure....

But wait there's more!

Did I forget to mention the 5 foot step accompanied per cleave you are granted by Frenzied Beserker? Combined with 10 foot reach gives you a 126 min damage attack at their buddies within ~15 ft.

So what do you think of it?

Use a bastard sword instead. Why? You can use the exotic weapon master trick to weild the (technicly) one handed bastard sword in two hands, and get double your strength to damage. Pwnzor?

Greatspear is a two handed weapon and therefore is also subject to same said bonus. In fact with Monkey Grip you deal 3d6 damage + 2x Strength Modifier, because you're wielding a large sized Greatspear.

If the damage increase weren't enough, I'd also like to point out the 10 ft reach capability of said exotic weapon.

I don't follow how a bastard sword would accomplish that.

Granted, but that bonus that i mentioned, x2 strength to damage, only applies when you weild a one handed weapon in both hands... one can acomplish this with the bastard sword or the dwarven war axe, i think theyre the only weapons than can be weilded one handed/two handed that do the most damage.

Ah, I see, I misread that ability. You are correct then, I'd be only dealing 1-1/2 str damage with the Greatspear. Hm...

Well... I guess I'm open to suggestions on how to offset that while maintaining the greatspear. I sort of liked the ability to cleave through opponents which are 5-15 feet away from one another...

Monkey Grip is a bad feat. For the -2 penalty, you get an extra 3.5 average bonus to damage rolls. Waste of a feat if you also consider that the Strongarm Bracers in the MiC do the exact same thing at no penalty or feat loss.

Great Cleave is a trap. You will never get that third Cleave attack off because 133 points of damage isn't enough to drop most CR 15+ enemies.

Weapon Spec at 18th?!? WTF? 2 points of damage at the cost of a feat is absolute crap. Get Leap Attack. Then call it a freaking lifetime.

Another problem with this is the lack of Rage/day. IIRC, you will only have 3 uses of Rage and Frenzy apiece, so you will be SoL when the 4th encounter comes around. Extra Rage is a good replacement for Great Cleave, and solves this problem nicely.

Oh, and another thing. This build's Will saves are abominable. You barely even have a +8 bonus to it. How do you expect to contribute to the party if you turn on them from 7 points of HP damage because the enemy catches you off-guard? Oh, and hello Dominate! You can't make a DC 20 Will save without a 12+, that's 45% chance of passing. You need at least a 80% chance of passing the save to end a Frenzy in order to be considered optimal party material. No one wants to get hit that hard from one of their team mates.

We've seen much better FB builds before. This is simply another take on one.

A standard build for a FR would be something like:

Orc thing water i think
Barb 2/Fighter 2/Warblade 2/Frenzied Berserker 10/Warblade +4

Feats:
Power Attack
Destructive Rage, EWP Greatspear
Intimidating Rage
Leap Attack
IMp Bull Rush
Shock Trooper
Something
Something else

take the Barbarian ACF that allows you to pounce.

Rage, Frenzy
Run over to the ennemy, jump, land near the toughest guy, power attack = 1 BAB for +12 to damage, make 5 attacks agaisnt him at -20 to AC +140 to damage, chances are: he's dead. Keep wailing on everyone in the same way. You can't die after all, as long as your raging!!

Then, when your near the end of your frenzy and almost dead, get the party's cleric or something to heal you back in the positives, well, he'll have to do it on his own but heck, then, end your frenzy using iron heart surge. Just as simple as that.

Your "something else" should be Endurance and Steadfast Determination.

Now you can make a few will saves and not kill your party.

Already taken care of.

Or if you INSIST on having will saves, then moment of perfect mind is just as good.

ToB, making saves irrelevant since 2005

Totally didn’t even read that you had WB.
I sir, apologize for wasting your time

How about using that Intimidate trick?
Sure you have to have a Cha of 15, but being able to cower someone is good.
You can take Intimidating Rage, and Imperious Command. Then take the skill trick Never Outnumbered, and lock your foes down

Can a FB use MoPM to end frenzy? It says specifically you can't use Concentration based stuff, and MoPM uses Concentration in place of the save.

No, but you can use IHS. He was talking about using MoPM for all of the other saves you may have to make.

I think my frenzied berserker is a little better. With Steadfast determination my Will save is a 31. I'll post it up later. It's complete at level 24 and I honestly have no idea how to improve it.

i don't understand the following.
1. why your barbarian isn't lion totem alternate classed
2. why you don't have leap attack
3. why you don't have combat brute.

leap attack= double power attack damage
combat brute= charge first round, charge again, and make your power attack bonus x3 for the penalty. so, -20 power attack to your AC(shock trooper) means +60 damage without leap attack, and leap attack says TRIPLE when you use a 2h weapon.
so 60x3 is 180 alone. now when you combine that with a frenzied berz...it gets into like 500+ damage per swing i think? ya. its over that.
now idk if you are in a campaign or just using this to duel an army of kobolds lol, but you can make a sick build from this.

i was thinking
2 levels of fighter.
4 levels barb- first level being the alternate class feature that lets you pounce!
3 exotic weapon master
1 level bear warrior
10 FB
be human for extra feat(EWP)
destructive rage, int rage. cleave, PA, shock trooper, imp bull rush, leap attack
this leaves you 2 more feats to pick from, whatever they may be(combat brute! and something else)
rage+frenzy+bear form.

Mine has +41 to will at level 20 WITHOUT steadfast determination.
