Feats: TWF, ImpIni, Craven, Fiendish Heritage (plot-related), Track (B). Great Dex, Int and Con, mediocre Str, low Wis and Cha. Skills tend toward stealth, mobility and utility, the player's uninterested in UMD or social niceties. Her role in the party is that of sneak attack melee, plus skillmonkey and trap management. Due to Con 18 and good HP rolls, she's far from being a glass cannon despite the LA. She wields dual Shortswords. So what Assassin spells are good for her? The player is rather new to D&D, and none of the players are great optimizers. She wanted to be an Assassin but had no idea about spellcasting, and now she's a little stumped. I advised her to take Critical Strike (CM variant) and Obscuring Mist, as they seem to go together nicely. Other than these, I have no idea what's good for a sneaky backstabber, though. Books allowed: All FR, Complete series (except Champion), BoVD and BoED (subject to close scrutiny by me, though), Libris Mortis, FF, Cityscape, PHB II, LoM. The campaign is short on treasure (so spell utility is heavily sought after), is strictly FR, and involves a lot of Outsiders, Giants and Humanoids, quite a few Undead, a few Plants and Animals. |

Very effective at super long range shots, especially when sniping is an issue. -Mimicry (CompScoundrel p.101), basically copies another voice. Very handy when used in conjunction w/ a Hat of Disguise and/or Invisibility. Definetly ups the Hell out of Bluff and can be used to totally change the course of a battle. Agent provacateur stuff. -Sniper Shot (Spell Cmpd): no range limit on sneak attack. Not always in melee, despite Rapier of Impalement (recommended) and poisons. -Critical Strike, but you already know about its effectiveness -Invisibility, combat wise, it's the sh-t, utility wise, it's also the sh-t. -Brilliant Energy Arrow (Champions of Ruin). Basically adds the brilliant energy ability to your missle weapon so no cover, all touch attacks, etc. Very nice when used w/ Sniper Shot then actually sniping (Hide). -Alter Self, very good for timely escapes and intrusions, namely, aerial & aquatic ventures that were presumably "safe". |
