I thought about casting shapechange with my Ultimate Magus to move around with the spell active continuously. I've more or less grasped on how items and shapechange work together (I think) and my idea was to simply have him take on a medium-sized, more or less humanoid form (two arms, two legs, head, mouth, etc...) with which he can wear the standard items. One border-line form would be the leonal - which is rather nifty for its abilities. What other medium-sized forms which fulfill the above-mentioned criteria are there? And considering the roar of the leonal - how exactly does that function? The character will be 18th level with a CL of 28 (or something like that). How does holy word function - ie: what's the CL of the character? I think it should be the character's HD (18)... |

So don't worry about trying to keep it medium sized. The CL of Holy Word would be your HD, I agree. Unless otherwise noted, a supernatural ability has an effective caster level equal to the creature’s Hit Dice. |

Is wild shape so inferior to shapechange then? In any case... the choice of monster to change into still has to have the 'slots'. No headband if it ain't got a head, hm? But otherwise... well, I'm sure there already is a thread somewhere concerning the most powerful beings to turn into with shapechange - could someone point me to it? ... as items are a problem, I am hoping that humanoidish creatures will have a special mention there. ![]() |

There are several threads related to Shapechange/Polymorph in the Handy Links. Pit Fiend is hard to beat for a "generic" form, as it has all the right parts, plus amazing physical stats, a good fly speed, and regeneration. |
