Best Minion for Dread Necromancer/Ur-Priest Build

Ok, I am building a BBEG to go up against the party. He is a Dread Necromancer 8/UrPriest2/Mystic Thurge 8/xx (not sure on the last 2 levels), though right now he is only 18th level, though probably by the time he directly confronts the party for a show down he will be in the low 20s (unless something changes).

Anyways I have him with Undead Leadership and need to build out his cohort.

I am thinking a Vampire, which will allow him to have a small squad of vampires, because his cohort will be able to control up to 2x HD in vampires.

Now, the DrNecro is a DragonWraught Kobold and thus has been around for a very long time, in fact his proginator (master) is Shadow Dragon is also a Dracolich, he(the Kobolod) is Necropolitan (and the other GMs and I have ruled this allowed him to become a Dracolich as well).

So, he has had time to create his undead army and properly select the best spawns to create his cohort. Can you think of anything better?

The party is very much a Hit and Run tactic, so thinking Rogue/Spellthief for the Vampire with other Rogues mixed in for his underlings.

Thoughts/Builds?

PS: Party does not have a Cleric or Paladin... Foot in mouth

Here are a couple of psionic vampire builds that I made some time ago that were focused on hit and run tactics. You'd have to add a few levels to them, but they might be of some use.

The psion version is probably superior, despite the charisma synergy with wilder.

Also... NPCs don't need Leadership feats. If you want them to have minions, they have minions. You're the DM. Cool The minions award the same XP and count as part of the encounter whether they are gained through a feat or not, so I'd use that feat slot for something more useful for your BBEG.

Phaedrusx,

Thanks for the reply, but the link seems to be broken. I tried searching google and came up broken, though I found a few of your other builds cached, saved them.

But if you have a copy or can think of what it entailed that would be great, I can try to reproduce it.

Gah... I hate this new forum...

They are in this thread: community.wizards.com/go/thread/view/758...

under this listing: Conrad Bains and Elyssa Malvolken, two sample vampires focusing on metal powers.

For those last two levels I have two suggestions
it really depends on how ur DM is like

If ur DM is cool, I'd take 2 lvls of tainted scholar
combine this with the Mad Faith feat, so all ur casting will be based on ur depravty score
(plus, the prc is soooo broken) =D

If ur DM is out to kill you because he hates you for being broken
Then I'd suggest the totally weaker prc "Lord of the Dead"
it's on the wotc website
it basically gives you decent turn resistance, along with ur undead

I'm also looking for a minion for undead leadership feat
so i hope you find ur answer (ill look around some more) bc that'll mean I'll have my answer
I was thinking either vampire or lich (but I hear lich not worth it)

Also, If you don't like tainted scholar there is always another option

Death Knight Template (check it up on crystal keep, it says +0LA, but I believe it is +3, so make sure u can use LA buyoff)

With it you can get TONS MORE of undead, ur undead army will be so massive that u could crush armies!

There are all sorts of cool undead one can make with that template in Libris Mortis.

And if the game is high level enough, perhaps a Dry Lich from an early entry Walker in the Waste prestige class?
