Well, 5th level caster, but 7th level overall, what with loss of level from that prestige class and that barbarian level. With a 17 Cha and four nightsticks, I can make three spells persistent.

Anyway, I've been thinking...

Brambles (makes any wooden weapon a magical +1 weapon that deals both piercing and bashing and +[caster level] to damage)
Protection from Evil (+2 sacred bonus to AC, +2 to saves, can't be dominated or posessed, summoned evil creatures can't get close to me)
Something else?

Mass Lesser Vigor and Lesser Visage of the Deity are both decent. One gives Fast Healing 1 to your whole party, and the other gives you a +4 bonus to Charisma and resist 10 vs acid, cold, and electricity. Here is a decent thread on the topic: http://forums.gleemax.com/showthread.php?t=407298&page=4

This is probably the best post in the thread: http://forums.gleemax.com/showpost.php?p=14976816&postcount=123

Also, have you asked your DM about persisting touch range spells? There is a debate that's went on about that for years...

heres what i would pick:

Elation(BoED p98)Cleric 2nd lvl

– All allies within an 80’ radius Spread of the
caster become full of energy & joy:
a) +2 Morale bonus to Strength & Dexterity;
b) +5’ movement.

Vigor, Mass Lesser(CDiv p186)(DR324 p103)+
level (max 25rnds total)>Cleric 3rd lvl
– One living creature per two Caster levels in a
30’ area gains Fast Healing 1.

ICE AXE(Spell Compendium)
Evocation [Cold]
Level: Cleric 3
Components: V, S, M
Casting Time: 1 standard action
Range: 0 ft.
Effect: Battleaxe-shaped weapon of
swirling ice
Duration: 1 round/level (D)
Saving Throw: None
Spell Resistance: Yes
A thin layer of frost forms around your hand as shards of ice descend from the sky and coalesce into the form of a battleaxe. This spell creates a battleaxe-shaped formation of jagged, fast-swirling ice shards in your hand. You are automatically considered proficient with the ice axe. Attacks with the ice axe are melee touch attacks. The axe deals 2d12 points of cold damage +1 point per two caster levels (maximum +10) with a successful hit. You cannot be disarmed of the ice axe nor can it be sundered. Since the axe is virtually weightless, your Strength modifier does not apply on damage rolls. If your base attack bonus
is high enough to allow for multiple attacks in a round, you can make them with the ice axe. If you choose to hold something other than the ice axe in your hand or use the hand in some other way, the ice axe vanishes until the hand is empty again. Material Component: A shard of ice, glass, or crystal.

this gives you a boost to yourself and Party
healing to self and party
Great attacks all day

depending on your combat style, i happen to like ring of blades (MHB, and another one)

if you can persist touch spells, the travel domain gives you fly, which is huge.

Only thing about Lesser Vigor at CL 5: it effects only 2 people.

Oh, I just noticed Spikes, the higher level version of Brambles, it gives an additional +1 to attack.

I think I might go with Spikes, Shield of Faith and I thought I saw one in Spell Compendium that would make my shield float by my side on its own, which would let me weild a two handed large weapon while bearing a shield. For the price of a few thousand gold, I can have +1 magical ghost touch full plate, with the option for layering further enchantments on the armour at a later date, which seems a lot cheaper than four more nightsticks.

Ice Axe is a lot better than Spikes .... Ice Axe does 2d12+5 and is a Melee Touch attack, and you cant be Disarmed... and you can hold things in that hand when you need to

Elation gives you and your Party +2 Str and Dex and +5' speed... thus you and your party get +1 AC from dex alone ..... Shield of Faith is not really a valid target for Persistant(depending on how you interpret Touch) but only will give a single creature +2 Deflection to AC .... Elation gives you and your party more

Well... to be fair, maybe he's going to use it on a club which has Greater Mighty Whallop and GMW cast on it, also. :D Ice Axe is nice, but I've never actually used it in a game. There always seems to be something better that I'd rather have, like a reach weapon, etc.

cast Persistant Ice Axe.... get a Melee Touch Attach, does great damage, cant be disarmed or Sundered, can put it away, simply by carrying something up with that hand(always Armed, free action to drop what you carry, to remanifest Axe)

vs Club.... must cast 2 3rd lvl spells each time you go into Melee(2 actions used, 2 3rd lvl Spells used), uses regular attacks .... at this Level (5th lvl casters) he gets +1 Enhancement to hit and damage(GMW) and 1d8 damage(+1 size from 1d6)

seems to me Ice Axe is still better in all areas

Can you power attack with Ice Axe?

Ice Axe(DR312 p64)
1min/lvl(D), SR applies>
– A battleaxe-like shard of ice appears in the caster’s hands, which he/she uses as a proficient weapon. The weapon does 1d8 Slashing damage plus 1d8 + (1 per 2 lvls) Cold damage (max 1d8+10). The axe is considered magic, cannot be disarmed or sundered. The caster’s Strength modifier does not apply to the attack or damage rolls.

but it doesnt say you cant..... but really you dont need to

Yeah, I was leaning towards you could power attack with it, but I wasn't sure if lack of a restriction was good enough. I could definitely see that being a useful source of melee damage at low-levels.

High up tactics might include using Energy Substitution [Sonic] and Born of the Three Thunders. Hit someone in melee, then they have to make saves vs. stunning and being knocked prone. A cleric of Thor with that ability would be sweet. Now just get that pesky daze immunity and you'll be set...

even at high levels..... Persistant Ice Axe is very handy

could you energy admixture it as well? 2d12+x cold and 2d12+x sonic is pretty mean.

in general, the use of metamagic with a spell like this is somwhat confusing. can you maximize ice axe? lord of the uttercold? lord of the uttercold axmixtured ice axe seems pretty solid, especially if you are a necromancer. 2d12+x cold, 2d12+x negative energy.

I don't think that's a good idea unless you are doing nothing but fighting all day.
