#2 Senevri Dec 31, 2009 18:42:53	Define "Best".  Pun-pun requires Forgotten Realms source material and gains infinite power at level 1. Even with just the core books, it's possible to completely trounce everything via shapeshifting and ability stacking, or via getting multi-possessed by ghosts or...  Like you say, there isn't just one answer, since there isn't just one question. That being said, if you can define what you mean by "best", you'll get a more accurate answer. This thread sticks to Core Only.
#3 bukkey Jan 01, 2010 7:43:52	by 'best' i just mean over-all able to overcome pretty much any obstacle and be generally the best in combat. not necesarily the strongest in every aspect but just on average the best. also i was including FR, Eberron and OA in first party

Some people don't like using Pazuzu, though, so it's whenever you can afford/access 9th level scrolls and/or make the necessary knowledge checks. For everything else, there's Campaign Smashers. For stuff that doesn't cause the DM to throw heavy objects at you, Druid 20 is the best all-rounder for any given situation, while a CrazyPrepared wizard is very strong, if it suits the player's mindset.

So, just use something like Greater Consumption Field + SLA summons, or the Shoggoth thing. You could probably even use Animal Affinity and up your stats by just 4 points a loop. Basically, the way you get your stat up doesn't matter much, as long as you pass it to your familiar. Not to mention the ability to grant itself Dragon Disciple's "Ability Boost" ability (which is stackable in the first place) as many times as desired. Oh, come to think of it, PP gains HD via either Dusk Giant's Cannibalize ability, or through Awaken cheese, which qualifies you for epic feats, which also solves the problem nicely. The whole size change thing simply isn't required at all.

Eventually they came up with a way to go totally infinite on everything at level 1. I can't believe people still argue about Pun-Pun whenever you bring it up... That's like arguing about who won the Civil War...
