| #1ScottbertJun 16, 2008 13:47:01 | In Dragon #311, there are several variant cleric classes. The main feature of the Arcane Disciple is, at each level, you can choose a spell -- of at least one level lower than the highest you can cast -- from the bard or sor/wiz lists and add it to your class list. I've got a particular eye towards buff spells in this case, as I'll be going into a variant War Weaver -- for divine casters, but you can't use healing spells with the tapestry (for those who don't know, basically the war weaver lets you cast buff spells on extra targets). I might be allowed to, if I use Arcane Disciple to take a redundant cure spell off the bard list, use that spell with the tapestry. So, what are the best spells for me to steal in this manner? Note that I'm starting at level 5, so I'm particularly interested in the lower levels. Also, I get bonus metamagic/item creation feats like a wizard does, what's the best for a divine caster? Possibly relevant optimization info: I lose domains and spontaneous healing and turn undead, but I do at least add the magic domain's spells to my class list. |

[i}Teleport[/i], dimension door, grease, and other traditional wizard/bard spells should be obvious choices. (See Treantmonk's guide for more info.) As for feats, take Spontaneous Divination (Complete Champion) at L5 if you can! Worship Mystra (FR) and take Initiate of Mystra (PGTF) for expanded spell access. Item creation feats are Craft Wondrous and Craft Contingent; most others are a waste for you. |
