Sorry, i know why nobody post answers to the this post, a fail in the sending erase all the post.

My question was this: im playing a beguiler lvl 1 in a new campaing, and i use color spray to get lots of enemies readies to be executeds, but i need a good weapon to make a critical, since the coup de grace hits automatically, no matters the critical range or the profience, the only why i need, is a good balance between critical multiplier and base damage.

tnks for the help

Scythe or heavy pick.

Tigerskull club (x4 1d8) or ice axe (x4 1d6) from Frostburn work nicely as well.

Scythe is my usual favourite.

I'd go with a Glaive. Proficiency doesn't matter for this purpose and the Reach does help.

In core, a Greataxe (d12/x3) is a good option. I'm pretty sure the Scythe is the best in the PHB, though (2d4/x4).

A Greathammer (d12/x4) from MM4 is excellent, if your DM allows it.

I think reach is a lot more important than raw damage for this, because it takes a full round action to coup de gras. If you're not close enough, you can't do it, and a Beguiler doesn't want to be that close.

As such, the best weapon would actually be an Awl Pike. Proficiency doesn't matter, and it's 1d10 X3 with 15' reach.

Why not spiked chain? (always the answer right? xD)

It has uses outside of just CDGing people as well as a large reach.

The reach isn't as good and the damage isn't nearly as good when using a Coup De Gras.

It depends what your Str penalty is (if any). I like a scythe better than a pick (say) because the damage is a bit of a bell curve so you're less likely to roll a 1 or a 2.

hmm, the scythe or the greathammer re a bit away from the image of the beguiler, he is more discret, for roleplaying the tigerskull can be usefull and keeps the style.

Scythe. Not only is it damn effective, it's also perfect for stylistic reasons. Just be the damn reaper.
