| #1reality_czechMay 06, 2008 18:49:07 | Hey folks, I have a quick question about a feat I'm trying to jam into a character concept. The Feat in question: Ocular Spell from LoM. I got it in, due to discovering I'm unexpectedly allowed a flaw at level 1, thanks to Zendu for bringing them up, or I wouldn't have asked. Basic Build info Show The intended character is an undead (Gravetouched Ghoul) caster with a lot of versatility and power, and came across a build on the boards here that will definitely fit the bill: Here’s what I’m looking at: 5 Wizard (Specialist: Conjuration, banned Abjuration and Evocation)/1 Mindbender/2 Ur-Priest/4 Mystic Theurge (After LA buyoff) Dropped Familiar for Abrupt Jaunt Dropped Scribe Scroll for Improved Initiave At level 20: Show At level 20 the targeted build goal is 5 Wiz/ 1 MB/ 2 UP/ 8 MT/4 Fatespinner. |

| #3zenduMay 06, 2008 18:58:59 | What race(template) are you? you mention LA buyoff No focused specalist? Won't you be getting general use(or necromancy) spells from UR? Take flaws? Persist instead of quicken? Have you thought about war weaver? Master specialist because you can? |

| #5reality_czechMay 07, 2008 7:58:31 | What race(template) are you? you mention LA buyoff Gravetouched Ghoul, I failed to include that, sorry. No focused specalist? Won't you be getting general use(or necromancy) spells from UR? I didn't go the FS route because my basic options on my 3rd prohibited school were illusion, enchantment, or necromancy. I'm forced to hold onto enchantment to qualify for mindbender (requires the ability to cast charm person). Illusion is too useful in general in my opinion. Necromancy is too full of attractive debuffs, also I'm forced to take Spell Focus: Evil to qualify for Ur-Priest and this is where I'll see the most mileage out of that feat. Take flaws? Turns out I can take one, so I'm taking inattentive and dropping Ocular Spell in at level 3 Persist instead of quicken? I'm looking at this character focusing on getting a lot of spells out, shaping the battlefield, debuffing, or generally causing destruction. I'm less interested in buffing (whether myself or allies). Have you thought about war weaver? War weaver loses a level of casting at level 1, and I'm not viewing this guy as being sufficiently focused on group buffs to make this an appealing tradeoff. Master specialist because you can? I only see where I can drop in two levels of master specialist, and I'd have to find room for Spell Focus: Conjuration. All two levels of Master Specialist would net me in return is one extra conjuration spell in my spellbook and a free Skill Focus: Spellcraft feat. |
| #6reality_czechMay 07, 2008 8:14:36 | Ok folks, now I'm wondering whether I ought to drop Reach Spell in favor of Cloudy Conjuration. Reach Spell is a +2 level metamagic and Cloudy Conjuration is basically a second free spell in conjunction with every conjuration spell I cast. Also, I can use Ocular Spell to basically have 2 spells memorized with Reach for the same +2 levels. Thoughts? |
