I'm probably going to end up making a Blue Mage for a PbP game and I was wondering if there are any good lists to look at besides the Trapsmith list for gaining spells earlier than normal?

Bard has quite a few nice spells, as does Disciple of Thyrm (Frostburn). Many Domains also offer good choises. Lost Empires of Faerun has quite a few good spells.

Here's mine: Jandor

I know all about Jandor, he's what helped me decide to be a Blue Mage for this game, heh. Taking some feat tips from him.

Also, what would be good to Gestalt Blue Mage with? The game I'm going to play in allows gestalting your first class with something else, and I can't come up with any really good combos.

Bard or Paladin might be interesting, assuming you mean a base class. One is the ultimate buffer, while the other has perfect gish capacity.

Barbarian? It gives you a nice, big hit die and has a good fort save. Just what you need to survive spells and learn them.

Have you also looked up the Spell "Deftness"? It's a level 0 spell from Dragon Magazine that gives you +2 to one Skill check and then discharges.

Yes, I mean a base class. Hmm, they both have a nice amount of charisma synergy too. So far in the party we have a Waterbender//Martial artist (healing and BC mostly), a Ninja//Fighter, a Binder//Shegunja, and what I think is going to end up as Arcane//who knows. He keeps coming up with different ideas.

Barbarian poses some problems: can't cast spells while raging being a big one. Oh, and I don't have access to any Dragon material.

Look into fitting in one level of spellthief and then taking the feat master spellthief, and then possibly unseen seer for hunter's eye...if the mages you encounter won't cast spells at you then take the spells from them. Maybe look into spellthief, duskblade, or maybe some rogue or factotum build for gestalt ideas.

On another note...I should really make a blue mage handbook since I played in Aramek's D&D group at college when/where he came up with the blue mage, and I sort of beta-tested it at another group at the same college as well.

Thanks for the advice, when I get some free time I'll check out your suggestions and see how well they'll work for me. Given the particulars of the gestalt, being that only the first two base classes are gestalted, I'm not sure if I want to PrC, but it's all good advice nonetheless.
