#1 waazraath Jan 07, 2010 12:58:22	Fly by attack: allows you take a standard action during flight Boots of the battle charger: allows you to take a standard action charge at any point during flight Is it a weird idea to combine these? Take a creature with flying speed & a 2 handed reach weapon, make it an ubercharger with shock trooper, and spent every turn taking 2 move actions, making a full attack with -bab to AC and 2xBab on damage, and ending up safely in the air. Be large, have combat reflexes & stand still for more safety. Does this make sense? edit: fixed typo
#2 phaedrusxy Jan 07, 2010 13:18:01	I'm guessing the boot description is a typo, and the boots actually let you charge as a standard action, correct? Yeah, if that's the case then it should work. If you work pounce in there somehow, it would be much more effective.
#3 waazraath Jan 07, 2010 13:21:22	yeah, that's why the "full attack" is in the title ;) Definitely with pounce & shocktrooper. The trick does miss out on leap attack because of the flying, but hell, shock trooper runs would be much more safe and there won't be any trouble with difficult terrain or anything. Thnx for pointing out the typo, btw.
#4 phaedrusxy Jan 07, 2010 13:23:39	Do note that if you don't take Improved Flyby Attack that you still draw attacks of opportunity for movement, unlike with Spring Attack.

And yeah, do realise you'd normally get aoo's, but 1) reach weapon 2) enlarge person 3) tumble Most critters that give a fly speed give so much move that 1/2 move on tumble doesn't pose problems...
#6 ananasii Jan 07, 2010 13:36:00	One small thing you're missing that may disrupt your plans - Boots of the battle charger only be activated 2/day, so you wont be able to do it very often

Should be fixable with money though... either by custom make a higher level, more times usable, more expensive kind of boots, or with a bag of holding filled with standard boots of the battlecharger, and use this trick max. 2 times per encounter and afterward switch shoes. For flavour, I'd play a lady then with a big bag of different coloured/styled versions

#9 waazraath Jan 07, 2010 14:01:31	aaargh, with the same bloody prereqs as spring attack :S It's one of the reasons I prefer flyby with spring attack in my builds instead of spring attack: you don't need 2 useless feats to qualify.
