I thought of this house rule, and I thought I'd bring it here to be torture-tested for balance. Please try to exploit this in horrible ways.

Rule: Use the gestalt rules to combine two NPC classes. The result should be reasonable and well-balanced as a PC class.

For quick reference, there are six viable combinations:
Adept-Aristocrat
Adept-Expert
Adept-Warrior
Aristocrat-Expert
Aristocrat-Warrior
Expert-Warrior

Each of these should "play nice" with the other PC classes.

Mar 15, 2008 19:31:15 there's an NPC class you've forgotten (quite understandable, as although it's frequently mentioned, i've never seen stats for it): Magewright.

Aristocrat is an interesting class... i believe it grants you access to the "wealth" feat. could be pretty useful.

Warrior + Adept or Magewright would be a poor-man's hexyblade like thing.

Can they PrC? Or are we talking a full 20 build only?

I was imagining that it would work like any other PC class, so I see no particular reason why (say) your AriWar couldn't become a shadowdancer later on. It's this sort of thing that I really need to know if it breaks.

(Yeah, the aristocrat-expert has only three fewer class skills than the rogue...)

Mar 15, 2008 23:25:46 It doesn't really break. Using Expert to get the exact class skills you want (picking things like UMD and Iaijitsu Focus) is the shadiest thing you can do, and you can already do that by taking Factotum or Human Paragon 1 + Able Learner.

Mar 16, 2008 0:28:35 The best I've come up with is gestalt expert//warrior going into ur-priest. You end up getting into ur-priest painlessly with a good base attack bonus. Not what I'd call broken.
