Is there any rules made up out there that deal with turning a brilliant energy sword into a lightsaber?

From what I've seen it's a bad idea to use Brilliant Energy for this, as so many things are immune to the damage.  I've seen Dorjes of Psychic Scimitar and wands of Flame Blade or Moon blade offered as solutions plus those just fit the ascetic better than Brilliant Energy.

What is  Dorjes of Psychic Scimitar? Sounds like it's psionic based?

What source is the "Moon blade" in?

The hideaway weapon ability (Magic Item Compendium, p36) can give you a sword that collapses down into its hilt. It's a flat +2,000 gp, so it's easily affordable. It's a swift action to extend or retract it, so it doesn't interfere too much when you actually use it.

Fever iron (Magic of Faerun, p178) is a special material that adds +1 point of fire damage to a weapon for +2,000 gp. Alternately, riverine (Stormwrack, p128) can give you a blade that's made of force but gains no special benefit for it.

Can't use anything psionic in the campaign I'm in. DM hates psionics.

Can't make a new character for the Moon blade.  And I have no ranks in UMD.

Don't like the hideaway idea. Doesn't "look" like a lightsaber. Lol.  Thanks for the thought though.

The riverine wouldn't act like a lightsaber blade, meaning it wouldn't "go in or out".

Thank you both for the info. Unfortunetely I have the problems listed above so I am at a loss. Your help is much appreciated though.

What is the supossed to be anyway? It looks really cool. If I hover over it in the "smilies box" is says "lop". What does that mean? It looks like something from planescape?

Sounds like you should add hide away to a brilliant energy weapon. And also carry a lame backup weapon for things immune to it.

A lame backup weapon like a +1 Construct Bane, Undead Bane backup weapon?

Sorry Tempest. I didn't mean to piss anyone off. I don't have a character curently that can use it it looks like. I was just trying to do some research to see what could be done. But my nephew is thinking about starting up his own. NM.

Also, sorry for the Again, I didn't mean to piss anyone off. Sorry.

Actually, the adamantine glowing, hidden sword sounds a lot better than my idea. Way cheaper, and you don't need a construct/undead bane hammer to go with it.
