Can I get a hand? Or four?

So, I have a fun idea for an archer build that dual weilds Great Crossbows, but I'm out of hands... I need four on a non caster. Thri-Kreens have way too much LA (I'd prefer to avoid LA entirely). Are there any items or other methods of permanently getting 4 arms without the LA? Temporary spells won't cut it.

Would Totemist 2 do it for you?

(Girallon's Arms + Totem Bind)

Binding Girrilion arms to your totem chakra from MoI will apply a simmilar affect(you'ld probably have to take two levels of totemist though, cause two feats seems like a lot for that). Maybe there is a graft that you can applay to somewhere that would give a the same affect.

Unfortunately, I don't actually have Magic of Incarnum (that's about the only book I'm missing, actually). I'd prefer to avoid using other classes (going for a Warblade 20 Crossbow Archer).

That said, it does look like a nice solid solution... I suppose I might have to break down and just get that book.

The idea, by the way, is a dual wielding Warblade archer who makes good use of twin Splitting Aptitude Great Crossbows combined with Hand Crossbow Mastery, TWF (which I assume you need to fire them both), and Improved Critical, as well as Blood in the Water, Time Stands Still, and Raging Mongoose. In theory I should be looking at 48 shots every other round with 12 critical threats on average. However, I need those extra arms for it to work.

In theory you could just suck up the penalties for wielding the crossbows in one hand (on top of TWF penalties). Then you'd only need one arm to reload, or use some other effect like Phantom Reload (spell, races of the dragon).

Yeah, but -4 for one hand usage, -2 for TWF, and -2 for Rapid Shot really adds up. I'd like to avoid that many penalties.

Take the leadership feat, get a wizard/cleric cohort, and have them Persist a Garillion Arms on you each day.

Possibly grafts? Try Libris Mortis: The Book Of Bad Latin.

Most limb grafts replace your existing limbs. I'm pretty sure this is the case with all the LM ones.

Most limb grafts replace your existing limbs. I'm pretty sure this is the case with all the LM ones.

It is not directly specified in most books in the grafts sections [I checked Lords of Madness & Fiend Folio & Libris Mortis]. However, Races of the Dragon under Draconic Grafts [page 126] specifies five graft maximum:

"No portion of the body (head, skin, flesh, legs, and arms) can have more than one graft. Furthermore, no character can have more than one type of graft—for instance, both a draconic graft and an undead graft (described on page 70 of Libris Mortis or page 214 of Fiend Folio)."

The problem is a fleshwarper [Lords of Madness prestige class] should be able to bypassthat restriction (single graft type) by virtue of their class feature Graft Mastery, and all tails do not have to replace legs, some are additional.
It is up to your dm of course, but I think the girralon arms would work easier
than adding grafts.

Get the Reloading property from MIC on your crossbow. It's only a +1 and turns reloading into a mental action.

You can't persist that... it's touch range.

Make sure your cohort likes storing spells in his eyes.

There is also the Arms of the naga on page 55. They give you an extra set of arms, but they dont let you make extra attacks. It might still work if you assume you make the extra attacks with your own arms. Also fun if you are good is to add in the prostetic arms from defends of the faith. Build it into the arms for another +2 Str and +2 Dex unnamed, plus a +2 deflection bonus. If you get a tail graft, you could take the prehensile tail feat on page 38 which will give you another effective hand. That gets you to 3 or 5 with the arms.
