Chain Contingency as a Reason to Keep Evocation

It's a small reason and requires access to level 9 Wizard spells, but Tome & Blood 86 mentions this lovely spell- chain contingency that functions as contingency but allows 3 spells to activate immediately in sequence.

My favorite chain contingency trick comes with Craft Contingent Spell (Complete Arcane 77 and 139). You can have one crafted contingent spell on you per HD, and "Once triggered, a contingent spell takes immediate effect upon the bearer." Make this a chain contingency filled with revivify, heal, and energy immunity (cleric version) or summin' to trigger when dead, or heal, heal, heal you before you would otherwise die.

You can seemingly have more than one chain contingency contingent spell as part of your person. (You can have one contingent spell dormant on you per HD.) However, since the chain contingency seemingly doesn't trigger until the contingent spell says it does, your other chain contingency contingent spells remain dormant, and you can seemingly have one additional chain contingency as normal.

I'm no bettin' man, but I'm pretty sure energy immunity (sonic) coupled with an Archmage's Mastery of Elements to make my fireballs do sonic damage in a 20' radius centered on myself would make for some pur-tee firecrackers, especially when I could explode 540d6 of sonic boomin' goodness atop them at level 17, and that's before metamagic feats! (Set all the spells to go off, "When I say 'hubbaj,'" or "When I want them to."

I'm pretty sure y'all can do better with this.

Bring earplugs.

I wonder how this works with Shadowcraft Mage.

This is a 3.0 spell is it not?

Some DM's allow 3.0 material - but I would definitely be checking before making any character decisions on a spell that may or may not be available likely near the end of any campaign.

Chain contingency wasn't updated since Tome & Blood.
