| #1atsuishotoJun 12, 2008 22:03:12 | Hey all, I'm building a character that I am hoping will follow the expected power level for characters in the Savage Tides campaign. Having never played through the whole thing before, I need a bit of an outsider perspective to see if I can get it right, although there will be plenty of time to adjust the details as I actually climb through the levels. Here's the sitch: My 6th level psywarrior blood spiked charger charged headlong into combat one too many times, and I'm looking for a backup plan in case my brand new replacement glaivelock runs into the same mortality issues on the Isle of Dread. I would like to be absurdly potent, but do so by aiding my team mates, who are not part time optimizers like me, and whom I do NOT intend to eclipse in-game. |

Change that to Crusader 1 / Fighter 2 / Crusader +1 and you get IGG as your level 1 stance then you also get a second stance, Furious Counterstrike +1/Steely Resolve 10, Cha to Will saves, more skill points, a selection of 1st/2nd level maneuvers AND a recovery mechanism upon which to build your RKV progression (oh, and an extra IL). This situation is the textbook definition of a "no-brainer". |

He doesn't want to have to deal with the recovery mechanics and the unique class features. He's not averse to the actual ToB maneuvers, though, because he finds their spell-like format easy to digest and utilize quickly. When I explained that the RKV doesn't use any recovery mechanics that you don't already have, he wasn't averse to it, either, so I know I'd like to use that prestige class. Does anyone have another cool undead-flavored spellcasting idea to replace the Divine Crusader domain casting, or maybe a better set of maneuvers to take? Generally I'm just looking for a way to get turn undead in 1 (or 2 max) levels to get into RKV, but base classes would incur a multiclassing penalty (except for rogue, of course). |
