#1 canuberon Aug 24, 2011 23:40:58	Hello good folk at CO board, Long time reader but I just registered to get some help in a low money campaign. It's Forgotten Realms and around DR1372. It's a very good campaign but we always tend to lag behind with items (no scrolls, magic weapons, ...). Our DM realizes this to a point and gives us easier challenges instead of giving more loot. I could really use some help in creating a character that doesn't need a lot of stuff. Kensai didn't look bad to me, sorcerer looked like an option as well (but the low AC...). Core and all completes are allowed. I don't really have a preference for races. Thx in advance!
#2 Maat_Mons Aug 25, 2011 1:01:32	What level are you starting at? What books can you use? Do you have down-time that could be used to craft? Casters tend to be less dependent on gear than others. After a point, it becomes practical to have magic vestment and greater magic weapon active all the time. Eventually, you could have those on the whole party. If your wealth is far enough behind, vow of poverty (Book of Exalted Deeds) becomes an attractive option. There are options for a sorcerer to boost his AC. Abjurant champion (Complete Mage) and greater luminous armor (Book of Exalted Deeds) come to mind.
#3 Krusk Aug 25, 2011 10:57:18	If you don't want to cast, Monk 3/Barbarian 2/Fighter 2/Fist of the forest 3/Bear Warrior 10 is pretty slick. Turn into a karate bear. "I was a monk studying since birth to [stereotypical bhuddist monk stuff]. My villiage was burned down, and I lived in the woods for a bit being raised by bears". The "Bit" you lived in the woods is all the levels you have before the game starts. Str>Con>Dex>Wis>Inv>Cha Depending on the level of no magic items, take VOP. If you don't have anything by level 5 or so, its probably worth it. PHB/Complete Warrior/Complete Champion. Maybe BoED   Best bet is to be a wizard who creates magic items. Or an artificer.
