Party as far as I know consists of.........Divine soul, MMoF, Havent heard from about anything from the other characters sense theirs lack of communication. --------------------- Any 3.5 material, including Dragon magazines, which I dont have access too. Stats are in order of......Str 16 (-2), Dex 18 (+2), Con 16, Int 14, Wis 14, Cha 12. Thats how I designated them out. Here is another idea based off the Supermount thread, but slightly modified. Heres what I would like to do...... Archer type, has a mount, uses melee as last resort. My first thought was.... Ranger 2 (Archer), Paladin 5, Wildplains rider 3, Cavalier 2 (This is an idea for a Halfling type character, who later gets a Blinkdog as a mount, and later in lvls possibly Dragon). Is Paladin any good with bows? or is it just feat required that makes the archer type?. Im Intending to go and Grab Devoted tracker. I thought about Halfling outrider but I dont know if it would fit. Im also unsure how the it would fit for theme. I suppose im going the Fun theme route. Dragonborn halfling is a possibility btw. ---------------------- This should be my last sense I think I filled up the boards like 3x already with an idea that I thought I would do but decided again. Just I have so many ideas of what to do that they get garbled in my head and I jump the gun, I apologize for this human flaw of mine. |

Being a Dragonborn would even allow you to keep the feat, but Dragonborn is a poor template for a Halfling in most situations and archers in similar ones. Now, Paladins aren't particularly skilled at archery but they aren't at a disadvantage compared to a non-bow oriented class either. If you're going supermount then I wouldn't worry too much about the range orientation so much as the mount itself. Ditch the Ranger levels since they only do you so much good and give you a multiclassing penalty. Archers are really defined by their feats, but Point Blank Shot is really the jumpstart that you need along with Precise Shot so you can support your party (you're mount is gonna be better). That said, you need to be devoting a lot of your feats to Mounted Combat to be more effective and have build synergy. Wildplains Rider, Cavalier, and Halfling Outrider are all viable PrC classes based on the mount, but Cavalier doesn't provide much of a bonus to the actual mount at lower levels besides continued progression. Halfling Outrider has a better theme for you and is worth a two level dip simply for Defensive Riding. Wildplains Rider hands you a decent chance for your mount to hide, but more importantly a speed boost. Now since we have Halfling Outrider, we can see that it also boosts the Druid's animal companion at the same time as your mount rather than one or the other so picking up a pair of levels of Beastmaster and Exalted Companion gets you your Blink Dog with the first Beastmaster level which you make your mount all with good synergy. The downside to all this is that you don't get the Ranger's Track as a bonus feat for Wildplains Rider. |
