Okay, so I want to put together a Cleric Archer, mostly as a demonstration of how they work. What I have so far:

Human Cloistered Cleric 20 with Planning and Undeath
Feats: Extend Spell, Persistant Spell, Extra Turning, Exotic Weapon Proficiency (Greatbow), Divine Metamagic: Persistant Spell, Zen Archery, Point Blank Shot, Rapid Shot, Precise Shot, Extra Turning.

Places to go from here: adding a domain would really help, getting maybe Animal for Persistant Shapechange near the end of the build or something. But yeah... how do I make this really rock, if I'm really trying to show what a Cleric archer can do? It doesn't have to be pure Cleric but it should have plenty of Cleric in it and distinctly be a "Cleric Archer."

Right now I'm thinking persisting Righteous Might, Divine Favor, and Divine Power would be good.

Greatbow is overrated (only a few extra points of damage over the normal Shortbow, IIRC). Composite Longbow or a decently enchanted Shortbow is better.

Has anyone done a druid archer? I recall that druids get a few wind based spells that are geared towards archery, while clerics do not.

Definitely take a level of Prestige Ranger if possible to add (and maybe persist?) Arrowmind (threaten with bow). Also nets you everyone's favorite Hunter's Eye.

if you are going to use Cloistered Cleric .... try this:

Remember Clerics dont get Martial Weapon Proficency with Bows... unless Elf or War domain

Human
Cloistered Cleric 20

Domains:
Planning
War
Knowledge

Feats:
Martial Weapon(Longbow or Comp Lng bw)(War bonus)
Extend Spell(planning bonus)
Point Blank Shot(human bonus)
Persistant Spell
Knowledge Devotion
Divine Metamagic: Persistant Spell
Holy Warrior
Precise Shot
Extra Turning
Woodland Archer

Holy Warrior+Knowledge Devotion.... bonus Damage to every shot and boost to attack rolls

Woodland Archer... boost to itterative attacks, if you miss... and great for Sniping attacks

Well, remember he doesn't start with proficiency in either, so I might as well go for the big one. Also, the damage does go up more when he uses Righteous Might.

Divine Power grants MWP, right? Martial before Exotic. Very few Exotic weapons are even worth the feat. Composite bows benefit from your Str score, and martial weapons are less expensive in terms of character resources. GRanted, you won't hit a damn thing without Divine Power, but you are a Cleric anyway, so it should be one of your spells prepared as much as possible.

A druid can use a club, dagger, dart, quarterstaff, scimitar, sickle, shortspear, sling, and spear.

Any other weapon, will violate your druidic oath, and cut of your spells, wildshape and your familiar will ditch you.

No, DP doesn't grant MWP.

But I second carnivore's Knowledge devotion and Holy warrior. Made of awesome they are.

Not in 3.5, only armors actually break the oath now.

Divine Power doesn't give that, so I might as well go for the Exotic Weapon. I mean, it's either that or be an Elf, but I'd rather be a Human and use the bonus feat for a Greatbow than be an elf for a Longbow, you know? And Mighty Composite Greatbows are perfectly acceptable for getting strength bonuses... or I can just weild a Splitting Energy Greatbow and get the strength bonus that way.

Take Otherworldly, add access to polymorph via a domain, and turn into an Arrow Fiend.

QFT, because Clerics are not quite powerful enough as they are.

Of course not. They need all the help they can get.
Where are Arrow Fiends from?

The internets (and MM3).

I prefer going Cloistered Cleric/Ordained Champion and getting MWP: Longbow for free AND be Human for the extra feat...

what is superior about being a cleric archer as opposed to a ranger you can multiclass ranger for arcane spells imbue arrows or just gish build.

Do you trade in offensive power for heals?

Zen Archery allows you to use Wisdom in the place of Dex. Righteous Might and Divine Power, when persisted, give you as good a BAB, and an insane boost to Strength. Plus, you can do all this in full armour, and have a bundle of spells at your disposal.

So a gish would be the sub optimal choice. That's why I don't like 10th level spells.

huh??? 10th lvl spells... are you going for an EPIC game?

Clerics still kick butt.... very easily... and can be Gishes(divine):

Cleric 10/ Fist of Raziel 10

BAB+17
CL 19
9th lvl spells
Fully EPIC ready

Cleric 10/ Knight of the Raven 10
BAB+17
CL 19
9th lvl spells
Fully EPIC ready
Turn as 18th lvl Cleric(without items)

both work great as Archers.... if you include the Feat: Smiting Spell... you can cast Harm into your Arrow for lots of Fun

Try this one:

Dread Necromancer 1/Cloistered Cleric 9/Fist of Raziel 10

Double Turn/Rebuke attempts. Extra Turning adds to both sides. Persistent Spells time.

Knowledge Devotion is optional.

Needs to be Lawful Neutral.

10th level spells?

No such thing.

You can have 10th level spell slots for metamagiced spells.

You could potentialy heighten a spell to 10th level and it would be a 10th level spell in theori.

But in faerun at least, the have been removed by Mystra, since Karsus used a 10th level spell to elevate himself to godhod and take over the weave. "Bad idea by the way, it ended up killing him"

To combine a few fun tricks into one...

Cloistered Cleric 1/Archivist 11/Ruathar 3/Divine Disciple 5

Persist the following:

Divine Favor
Divine Power
Righteous Might
Hunter's Eye

While you're at it, grab Polymorph from the Adept spell list, and polymorph into an Arrow Demon. Symmetrical Archery and other fun abilities are (Ex) attacks, so go to town. Divine Disciple gives you outsider status.

Dread secret to stun, with a pretty impressive volley of attacks coming from your multiple bows.

If you don't like the flavor of Ruathar, Radiant Servant of Pelor also gives you proficiency with bows. Or, hell, take the feat. You could also avoid CL loss by taking Sacred Exorcist over Cloistered Cleric, although you'll lose out a bit on domains and skills.

Go from LN to LG halfway through. Not that hard since WotC considers Tyr LG...

According to at least some rulings, though, that would invalidate any spell/supernatural abilities dread necro gets you. Might as well get another CC level if you want.

Doesn't actually say. Please don't point to the Sage. I don't know why people keeps listening to Elminster. The guy has a pipe in his mouth 24/7, and I am fairly certain it ain't tobacco in there...!
