my dm is going to kill my fighter and told me i can build as powerful a melee character as i like, as we will need it in the next month or so.

now, i don't think he's ever seen a true codzilla, so i'd like to tone it down a bit. i.e. no nightsticks.

books: core, phb2, spell conpendium, complete series, dragon magic
ECL: 11
race: silverbrow human

STR 14
DEX 10
CON 14
INT 10
WIS 16
CHA 10

Cleric 11 (ACF: dragonscale husk)
Hu: extend spell
lv1: extra turning
lv3: persist spell
lv6: dmm: persist
lv9: improved shield bash

the plan is to take shield specialisation and agile shield fighter, but at the moment i won't get it til level 15, and i'd really quite like it at level 12. can anyone suggest ways of doing this? i can't find a non-faerun god with the planning domain and my current concept has this guy as the protector of travellers (faharghn). if i could get the planning domain from somewhere, i can rejig the concept somewhat. either that or i take a level of fighter, which holds me back from the major melee power boost of persistent divine favour (that +divine power is what i'm aiming for) until level 14.

also, does anyone have any advice on other spells i could cast on the party? with divine power/divine favour i'm pretty much fully buffed (shield of faith would be good), so will probably have a round or two per combat to throw off a buff spell for someone else.

Worship a cause, an ideal, or whatever you want to call it. Then choose your domains. That's the simplest way.

Another option is making your own god. Just because he's not real doesn't mean your cleric won't get power for believing in him.

Then take Planning and Undeath domains. Get persist and DMM: Persist at first level. Take extra turning from there out. Divine Favour is possibly the weakest spell to persist (not really, but it sucks).

Just be wary though, because if you're not okay with him killing your fighter, he'll probably get angry and kill your cleric along the way too...

Seriously, with your stats, which are not great, but not terrible, you can only persist 2 spells at level 9, and that's if all of your free feats are extra turning.

Persist Divine Power and either Righteous Might (PHB) or Righteous Wrath of the Faithful. Righteous Wrath is awesome because if your party gathers around you in the morning it lasts all day for them too.

If at ECL 11 you can get a Cha+4 item, you'll be able to persist 3 spells, so choose the 3 above or 2 of them and a Vigorous Circle. Fast healing 3 for a whole party is all kinds of awesome, IMO.

What he said.

Without Nightsticks you'll miss out on other metamagic feats, but you'll still be a tank and a full-caster.

Dragonscale husk ACF is bad, real bad. It gaves an AC bonus that doesn't stack with any other AC bonus. If your DM houserules it otherwise, then it's fine, but by RAW, it's useless.

Good catch nightwyrm, I had glanced over that. The husk is terrible. Drop it. You're better off buying dragonscale armor.
