| #1tos_shai_huludJan 30, 2009 5:12:49 | I'm interested in making a 1st level cleric of Tyranny. I'm looking for build options for maximizing the types of rebuking available to the cleric. One possibility would be a Sovereign Speaker from Faiths of Eberron. Beginning play as a Cloistered Cleric and retraining the Knowledge domain allows a second level cleric to have three domains that grant rebuking. Then as a Sovereign Speaker, one would only need 2 levels to get all of the possibilities from the prestige class (Arawai has Plant, Balinor has Air and Earth, Onatar has Fire and Warforged). That leaves Water unavailable, so the full complement of elemental domains is unavailable. Still, this is a suboptimal choice, as the cleric loses turn/rebuking ability for both of these levels as well as a level of cleric spellcasting. Seems like a poor choice for a cleric of tyranny, even if Eberron does allow lawful evil clerics to worship the Sovereign Host without losing their powers. Even a liberal interpretation of the rules such that the Dark Six is a part of the pantheon (as described that some followers believe that all fifteen gods comprise the Sovereign Host), that would only add the Water domain through the Devourer, and another lost level where rebuking doesn't increase. Still, this grants rebuking of the following creatures (although weakened by losing three cleric levels): Undead, Fire, Water, Air, Earth, and Constructs. This falls somewhat short of the master of commanding creatures that I am looking for. Does anyone have any build suggestions to make this more viable? The closer to core only the better, but I am willing to accept some out-of-the-box thinking. |

I think there were some feats in the old Masters of the Wild that let you do that, but it's been a while since I looked at it... And can you actually retrain Knowledge to another domain? |

By RAW, probably not, but I don't see why it would be that big of an issue. I mean, trading one domain for another is already legal. Why not allow a cloistered cleric to become a different type of cleric with an elemental domain instead? The cleric still has three domains, so balance should not be an issue. But really, I am looking for ways to get additional domains, not for additional domains that grant rebuking (Slime is another one). |

Contemplative obviously grants one, and offers a level of spellcasting, so that is a good choice. Are there other methods of gaining additional domains? Is there a good thread that describes this? Edit: In addition, domain powers and turning/rebuking should increase, as well. |

I've given this some thought, since I was playing around with a "rebuke people to get minions" build a while ago, and came to the conclusion that it depends on whether your ability to Rebuke is checked constantly, or only when the Rebuke attempt is made. |
