| #1unseentangoMar 14, 2009 19:07:29 | At the start of my next game I will be lvl 3. I started this char to try to get alway from Mid/Max but i just can't stand it. This is what i look like so far: NG 2 lvl Half-Orc Clr 14 str, 9 dex, 14 con, 11 int, 17 wis, 12 chr Smite and aura of courage var. for turn undead 1st lvl feat Heroic Destiny Skill ranks 2 concentration 4 knowledge religion and 4 spellcraft Deity is Heironeous domains are Good and War. I use a Longsword and Buckler so i can cast divine spells with the Somatic components with my free buckler hand. The biggest mistake i am seeing reading through the forums is losing turning undead, but maybe not. Followed by the feat Heroic Destiny and not having the Luck domain. Please help me plan out a couple lvls to get me out of this bind. Thank you. |

To be honest, for most normal games, your spell selections are going to power your combat ability much more than the feats you take. You can get a massive power jump with Divine Metamagic, and in particular either Quicken Spell or Persistant Spell, but your Cha is so low that you'll have issues trying to use either in the early levels. The Divine Feats besides that are, imo, not usually worth it (Divine Spellpower is one that is). I'm not familiar w/ Heroic Destiny: where's that one from? |
| #3unseentangoMar 14, 2009 20:07:50 | heroic destiny is from RoD. |

Complete Scoundrel and Complete Champion have some feats to help out these sorts of effects, but its not an optimal use of feats, imo, though it does give an interesting twist. Can you change any aspects of your character? |

Try aiming for this: Lesser Aasimar Cleric 10 (either of Bahamut or Heronious) Lawful Good, Celestial Domain (Planar Handbook) Divine Magician (Complete Champion alt class feature) 1 Extra Turning 2 3 Domain Spontaneity (Celestia) 4 5 6 Divine Defiance (Fiendish Codex II) 7 8 9 Power Attack 10 Lesser Aasimar gives you +2 Wis and Cha and all the Aasimar abilities, downside is you are considered a humaniod with the planetouched subtype so spells that affect humans (charm person) affect you as well as spells that affect outsiders (banishment). Bahamut or Heronious give you access to the Celestia Domain, which as killer domain spells like Shield of Faith, Divine Power, and Righteous Might. There are also some levels you get to choose more than one domain spell so losing your second domain (thanks to Divine Magician) won't be as bad. So Divine Magician you give up a domain, but you can add 1 sorc/wiz spell per level to your class list, they have to be from Abjuration, Necromacy or Diviniation. 1st level for Shield (since greatsword/power attack will be a good offense), 2nd level take Spectral hand (good for cure and inflict spells). Divine Defiance lets you spend a turn undead attempt to counter a spell as an immediate action, so max out your third level spells with Dispel Magic, the can be used for cure spells or your domain spells (see next). Domain Spontaniety lets you spend 1 turn undead attempt to spontaneously cast any domain spell you have, very useful with the Celestia domain. At earlier levels you'll be a good martial priest (thanks to full plate, +2 shield of faith, + shield), healing in combat and taking down enemies. Once you gain Devine Defiance and Domain Spontaniety along with spells like Divine Power and righterous Might, you can be an ulti-tank, counterspelling, healing badass ![]() |
