Is there a way for a cleric to obtain a familiar without multiclassing?
I want to try a warforged cleric with a spark guardian familiar (cw)

Trying to figure out if it's possible and what is the least problematic way to do it.

Naturally I could takeĀ 3 levels of wizard and practiced spellcaster but that's a preety high demand (especially since it would also incur XP penalty).

Generally our party doesn't like to add much books but they do allow certain things on a per-case-basis so supposably anything is possible.

Any advice?

The old Mystic Wanderer prestige class advanced divine spellcasting and granted a familiar at 1st or 2nd level. I forget which book it was from. Magic of Faerun, I think. It also grants charisma to AC or saves, I forget which, at 1st or 2nd level.

There are also a few feats that can make your divine spells count as arcane, which you might be able to use to qualify for Obtain Familiar. IIRC, they are called Alternative Spell Source and Southern Magician.
