Doing up a replacement character for a friend. Here's what I've got so far, starting at level 11:

Cloistered Cleric 10/Contemplative 1
Race: Elf (Ugh. Couldn't persuade him out of elf for flavor reasons.)
Domains: Knowledge (devotion'd), Travel (devotion'd), Planning, Time
Ability Scores: Str16, Dex17, Con16, Int15, Wis18, Cha19 (He rolled frightfully well. 4d6 drop the lowest.)
Flaws: Inattentive
Traits: Honest (+1 Diplomacy, -1 Bluff/Sense Motive), Absent-Minded (+1 Knowledge checks, -1 Spot/Listen)
Feats: Persistent Spell, DMM: Persist, Extra Turning, Divine Vigor, ???
Skills with noteworthy ranks: Concentration, Knowledge (religion, nature, arcana, planes, undead), Spellcraft, Spot

Has 11 turn attempts before Nightsticks. Looking at probably 5 nightsticks, as that gives 4 persisted spells and an extra 3 turn attempts for Divine Vigor/Travel Devotion use, or 3 persisted spells and 10 uses. Could put another Extra Turning in that last feat slot as well. Reliquary Holy Symbol gives an additional 2 turn attempts.

What I'm looking for is suggestions on other purchases (or changes to make to to things already established), and a possible spellbook.

A. You don't keep knowledges as class skills if you devotion the domin away.
B. What do you want a spellbook for? You're a cloistered cleric, not an archivist.
C. Fitting in Divine Oracle would be nice in that build. Can't say no to evasion in heavy armor.
D. What books are allowed? Bone Knight works well too, but if no Eberron, that won't work. Give us details ;)

A: Well...damn. Learned something new. Guess the extra feat slot is going to Knowledge Devotion then, eh?

B: This is why you don't talk on the phone and type. I don't mean a literal spellbook, I mean a list of spells to prepare. I know Righteous Might and Divine Power are normal DMM: Persist candidates, but that gives me another 2 or so Persists, and plenty of spells beyond that to cast.

C: CC doesn't get Heavy Armor proficiency, so unless Divine Oracle grants it, 's probably a no go.

D: Pretty much anything's fine, within reason. That is to say, no nanomachines or nasty gentleman. The guy running the build's adamantly against heavy multiclassing though, despite my explanation to the contrary. ("Classes beg a certain archetype! Too many classes forces roll-playing and not role-playing!" etc. etc.) To each his own I guess. Adding another class probably won't be an issue after a few levels of Contemplative though.

If he has a god, get the Substitute Domain spell, from Complete Champion.Lets you swap out Domains you know for others your god has for days per level.Knowledge for Elf maybe?

I would also ditch spontaneous heal/inflict, in favor of spontaneous domain casting. This is a alt class feature from PHPII(? I think).

Clearly You could get a Wisdom or Charisma Boosting item. High dex too. Hmm, Monks belt?Expensive.
Even with that Con, ranged combat will have lot to recommend it.
Elven proficiencies mean Long bow.Good strength, so a mighty bow.Divine Power plus Elf,plus good dex and strength=Cleric Archer Light.
Knowledge devotion works with this.
Cloud of Knives is a strong spell choice, and persistable, I think.

I would concentrate on battle field control and ranged combat. Leave healing to items/others. And wear Gishy armor, in order to take advantage of that dex.

It depends. I love Righteous Wrath of the Faithful (Spell Compendium). It's a great group buff. Any of the mass vigor spells takes care of healing for you, too. What role does he want to fulfill?
C: CC doesn't get Heavy Armor proficiency, so unless Divine Oracle grants it, 's probably a no go.

Evasion in medium armor is just as good. Divine Oracle grants you another domain that most DMs will let you sub for Knowledge Devotion. If your DM will let you do that, go for it. It's a good filler class. As it stands, you have too many cleric levels since your turn attempts will not be used for turning.

Divine Oracle, Bone Knight, and Knight of the Raven are all good PrC. If you can swing it, possibly even Sovereign Speaker for more tasty domains...

Are you lawful neutral or lawful good? If so may I recommend Church Inquisitor? You get yet another domain (Inquisition) with nice +4 to all dispel checks, immunity to charm, compulsion, and possession (this includes stuff like "trap the soul"), and you can force shapechanged creatures back into their normal form! BAB and HP as Cleric too as well as full spell progression.

You don't need to take the PrC for all 10 levels, level 8 is a nice break point (you get all the good stuff by then).

Something like a Cloistered Cleric 3/Church Inquisitor 7/Contemplative 1 would be great.

Cl Cleric is Light Armor
Feat to consider:
~Spontaneous Domains feat; keep Domain slots open and cast them spontaneously. Useful if collecting extra bonus domains.

PrC's to consider for Domains
Church Inquisitor, (concur) low level entry, nice abilities and bonus domain
Divine Oracle ( concur ) bonus domain and evasion

Seeker of Misty Isles, bonus domian (Travel, iirc ) and is elf oriented
