Also the only class I played for longer than say, one session, so I might be biased (I dm a lot) * Class Feature: bonus feats. I'm a sucker for 'm . Skill mastery is a good second * Skill: knowledge. * Feat: sculpt spell (often followed with easy metamagic) * Prestige Class: archmage or incantatrix * Weapon: buffed party members :D * Spell: tough one. I've had some fun with arcane fusion and debuffing, so I'll pick that one fun thread ^^ |

| #29sinfire_titanApr 12, 2008 14:55:26 | You know, this is a very effective way to figure out how people play the game. Is that what you were going for? |
| #30davethemagicweaselApr 12, 2008 14:58:24 | And the next challenge - can you fit it all into the one build? For mine, I'm thinking some sort of Silverbrow Human Paladin of Freedom 4 / Crusader 1 / Chameleon. Then maybe use RKV to progress the Divine Focus and using Battle Blessing on the Paladin spells from that (shaky I know). If I can just qualify for War Weaver as well and then advance Arcane Focus with that then I'll almost be there. Not got spontaneous casting tho. |
| #31arcane-surgeApr 12, 2008 15:08:12 | You can't advance Chameleon foci with PrC's, can you? I didn't think you could. |
| #32pfootiApr 12, 2008 15:14:21 | And the next challenge - can you fit it all into the one build? Not me. My favorites are more cherry-picked, and wouldn't mesh well. There's clearly some theme, though: a Goliath crusader with a Greataxe hitting people with Knockback. But then there's the wizard who casts glitterdust on the bad guys he knows has a bad will save (through Knowledge, my favorite skill). |
| #33ikerenApr 12, 2008 15:51:28 | * Attribute: Constitution * Race: Human * Class: Cleric * Class Feature: Turn Undead * Skill: Spellcraft * Feat: Divine Metamagic: Persist Spell * Prestige Class: Fochlucan Lyracist or Arcane Duelist * Weapon: Greatsword * Spell***: Definitely Divine Power. |
| #34davethemagicweaselApr 12, 2008 16:21:07 | You can't advance Chameleon foci with PrC's, can you? I didn't think you could. You can. You just can't use it to qualify for the PrC, so you have to bait and switch. Oh I know, some are far more spread out than others. Just thought it might produce some interesting builds, albeit not the most optimal. E.g. You could do a Goliath Knockback Gish with a prediliction for Glitterdust. Crusader base heading for JPM, dip Mindbender, and with the Divine Minion Template for Wild Shape. True, it's "not that uber", but I think it could make for a workable build. |
| #35SenevriApr 12, 2008 16:30:48 | You know, this is a very effective way to figure out how people play the game. Is that what you were going for? ...I'm the DM. ;_; I don't get to play. Haven't played DnD in ... five years or so. |
| #36tshernApr 12, 2008 16:42:03 | ...I'm the DM. ;_; I don't get to play. I thought my 3.5 month break from D&D was a lot. I've had one session (counting in all online/RL sessions, but no PbPs) during the last 3.5 months and that was yesterday. |
| #37CubeKnightApr 12, 2008 16:50:37 | Favorite:
Edit: For mixing them all, a Spellwarped Goliath Druid would be amazingly subpar. I guess if he's just a Goliath Druid/MoMF with Powerful Wild Shape he wouldn't be that bad off. |

Bardic music Skill: Use Magic Device Feat: Leadership Prestige Class: Meh. Arcane trickster perhaps Weapon: glaive Spell: alter self Pretty much some of the most potent options from the PHB; pretty much fits into one character without too much stretching (ok, drop arcane trickster). Nice idea, EJ |

| #43bozwevialApr 12, 2008 18:35:32 | So after a certain period of time, do we collect the responses and post the most popular in each category? EDIT: God, mine would be awkward to pull off! A high INT changeling warblade/wizard/JPM/dervish with ranks in Tumble, a Persisted Wraithstrike, and for some reason, a boomerang, who then blows up in green fire. But that would be awesome. |
| #44Dictum_MortuumApr 12, 2008 18:42:47 | Yeah, we can have statistics of what the community regards as optimization favorites. And then make a build based on that information. |

| #49jameswilliamogleApr 12, 2008 21:38:06 | Detect Magic? Explain. What's to explain? A zero level spell auto-detects 75% of traps, and most of those are the most common deadly ones. Also detects invisibility, magic items, buffs... all for almost nothing! Truly, it is a great spell. Permanency it immediately. |

| #113delusionalsykoJul 21, 2009 16:25:13 | Attribute: Dex/Int (I like crafty, clever, sneaky characters.) Race: Gray Elf (They get dex and int. They're also egotistical jerks, even moreso than most elves. Me likey.) Class: Rogue/ninja/beguiler/warlock. (Did I mention I like crafty, clever, sneaky characters?) Class Feature: Evasion/Uncanny Dodge (They have my eternal gratitude and appreciation.) Skill: Bluff/Hide (Do you see a pattern forming here?) Feat: Skill Focus Prestige Class: I don't prestige very often, but eldritch theurge is probably my favorite. Weapon: Grapple (Doesn't really belong, does it? But occasionally I like to play a wrestler and crush things.) Spell: Charm Person (sometimes Monster, but really, it's just nice to have friends. Easily manipulable friends.) My favorite characters are sneaky uber-stealth ninja archetypes or subtle manipulative a-holes. And despite both of those characters generally being at least incredibly selfish, power-hungry, and usually evil-aligned (though not open about it), I try not to stab the party in the back. It's a game, and it's for fun - it's no fun if one guy is the stereotypical traitor-for-no-reason PC who always jumps at the chance to slit the other's throats or take advantage of them or blah blah blah. I keep it reasonable and try not to make the game unpleasant for anyone - playing an evil character is a privilege, not a right. ![]() Also, here's something else I like. Attribute: Charisma Race: Human Class: Dread Necromancer Class Feature: Undead Mastery Skill: Whatever. Knowledge Arcana, probably. Feat: Corpsecrafter and the subsequent chain. Prestige Class: No thanks. Weapon: Army of Undead Spell: Animate Dead I've never played it, and I probably never will, but did you ever just stop and think about the things you could do with an army of undead? I mean really, really think. Zombies and skeletons don't tire. They don't need food. They don't suffer from any uncomfortable climates. You can control 4 + cha HD per level at level 8, so you're looking at probably 80 hd of undead. 40 human zombies, 80 human skeletons. Zombies are stronger, but you'd have more skeletons and they're more nimble. It doesn't sound like a whole lot, but the average human commoner works probably 8 hours a day, these will work all day, so you have effectively triple the work force. You might as well have 120-240 human commoners. They're limited to very simple tasks, but for example, how hard is it to chop down a tree and push it into the river? And there's no expenses except a body and a lousy gem, and even that should be a rare expense. It's all profit! Yes, yes, I realize there are easier ways to make profit. For example, buying and dismantling ladders if I remember correctly. But this one is realistic, not a number game. Also, fun and evil! But again, playing a necromancer entrepreneur is not fun, and not really a good character choice for a serious campaign. |
