| #1cyrocloudFeb 27, 2008 19:56:31 | I here by suggest that ther be a CO jamboree. It would be a huge geeky event in which those of the CO mentality would talk about D&D stuff. Logistically and geographically the entire idea is slightly flawed. There are many of those of the CO oreint spread accross many continents and economic backrounds. To make this idea feasible I have seen one idea, it should be leach onto another geeky even like gencon. (The 4e prerelease thing would be cool, but I have a strange feeling we would make some of those on the R&D boards cry...) I have came here to see if those of the great CO boards would be interested in such an event. |

| #3archerpwrFeb 27, 2008 21:05:09 | Chat is up and running. Chat? |
| #422_Over_7Feb 27, 2008 21:10:57 | I was thinking about a get-together @ GenCon as well. |
| #5archerpwrFeb 27, 2008 21:12:59 | I was thinking about a get-together @ GenCon as well. When is the next GenCon? There's a good chance of me being there. If anybody is going to be at A-Kon in Dallas, TX this year I'll be there and it'd be cool to meet some other folks from the CO. http://a-kon.com/ May 30th is the next one. Edit 2: http://www.gencon.com/2008/indy/attendees/faq.aspx Probably can't make it due to the date. Likely to be setting up for college. |
| #622_Over_7Feb 27, 2008 21:31:16 | Pftt. Get that crap done BEFORE GenCon ![]() |
| #7ChristopherGrovesFeb 27, 2008 21:33:28 | XP is this weekend and sadly, I'm not going. This is two in a row. :sigh: GenCon is a possibility. |
| #8Blade2718Feb 27, 2008 22:11:15 | GenCon might be fun. |
| #9neboFeb 27, 2008 23:01:37 | I don't suppose anyone is going to GenCon Australia? |
| #10banorFeb 27, 2008 23:45:11 | I don't suppose anyone is going to GenCon Australia? 17 hours of car to get to GenCon is something I swore myself to do once, might be a good idea for this year. |
| #11darksamuariFeb 28, 2008 0:00:20 | Hey, I've been talking to Cyrocloud about putting something like this on for this year. I think a good idea may be to break up ideas into to categories:
This isn't to say we have to or must limit ourselves to these. In general, I want to meet up with all of you awesome dudes and ladies, and have a merry and memorable time. |
| #12true_shinkenFeb 28, 2008 1:44:01 | In general, I want to meet up with all of you awesome dudes and ladies, and have a merry and memorable time. Please tell me that was a joke. |
| #13green_eyesFeb 28, 2008 1:50:28 | I could bring my GF with me to GenCon UK this august. Makes it one lady present at the very least. |
| #1422_Over_7Feb 28, 2008 1:51:54 | Please tell me that was a joke. I think, statistically, they have to exist. |
| #15mittenninjaFeb 28, 2008 1:52:44 | I'm definitely going to be attending GenCon Indy this summer. I'm not sure how many others will be though. |
| #16green_eyesFeb 28, 2008 3:06:46 | I think, statistically, they have to exist. The first one to confess will get my kudos. And a cookie. |
| #1722_Over_7Feb 28, 2008 3:11:01 | Didn't a few pop up when we were speculating as to Caelic's "vacation"? |
| #18Chaos_RedefinedFeb 28, 2008 3:46:41 | Umm... wasn't one of the biggest contributors to these boards a women? Specifically, Snow Savant. |
| #19green_eyesFeb 28, 2008 4:57:57 | Oh, yes. She was! Kudos to her. And a bag of cookies. |
| #20cyrocloudFeb 28, 2008 6:01:03 | I guess such a feat as this could be repeated anually or bianually. Personally a CO jamboree strikes me as something that repeats. |
| #21neboFeb 28, 2008 6:24:37 | Damn you Americans and your living-in-the-same-countryness. *shakes fist* |
| #22green_eyesFeb 28, 2008 6:26:51 | Look, who's talking. Wanna try an get an American visa? Here in Russia? I assure you, you know nothing of damnation. |
| #23CantripNFeb 28, 2008 6:36:21 | Not as complicated here. Might even be automatic soon. Still can't go because I'm an army slave for the next few years... ![]() |
| #24jameswilliamogleFeb 28, 2008 7:07:30 | Look, who's talking. Wanna try an get an American visa? Here in Russia? In Soviet Russia, Visa get you! |
| #25darksamuariFeb 28, 2008 12:10:01 | Alright, so I will begin to just brainstorm. The best time of the year for this is probably during the summer (college/high school is out) for most of us. If we want to try to meet up at an event we should list some, I'll start. The Penny-Arcade Expo is a convention I always attend, so thats an easy possibility if you lived in Washington (I know, I know, You live in Australia, Siberia, Narnia, ect...). Thoughts? |
| #26jameswilliamogleFeb 28, 2008 12:31:55 | edit double post! |
| #27jameswilliamogleFeb 28, 2008 12:35:09 | I'm FL, now, so thats out for me. I'm not really a Con guy... I like my dnd in short 4-5h chunks, a couple times a week. |
| #28tshernFeb 28, 2008 14:37:51 | How much beer would this occasion entail? Should there be a reasonable amount of that and decent entertainment, I might consider dragging myself from the haven we know as Finland. |
| #29darksamuariFeb 28, 2008 14:43:31 | How much beer would this occasion entail? Should there be a reasonable amount of that and decent entertainment, I might consider dragging myself from the haven we know as Finland. I'm 19 and going for an education degree, so I can vouch that I would not be transporting any alcohol to such an event (that isn't to say others couldn't). You'd drag yourself from Finland for such an event? |
| #30tshernFeb 28, 2008 15:37:47 | Not for it only and depending on how much money I've get together. I could have a little trip round the States to see some people. |
| #31colm_lFeb 29, 2008 10:57:36 | Please tell me that was a joke. There's at least a half dozen regulars/past regulars who are women. They just don't really advertise it. |
| #32alastarFeb 29, 2008 13:45:02 | By then if i manage to get my hands on a car i am SO there. Don't be scared by my rough cannuck appearance thought, I took jotunbrud as a level 1 racial feat. My gf would find me strange thought... |
| #3322_Over_7Mar 02, 2008 0:27:34 | ![]() I think this deserves more serious consideration. |
| #34Tempest_StormwindMar 02, 2008 0:35:34 | Depends on my situation come Gen Con (both timewise and financial), but I'd be interested. |
| #35nanshorkMar 02, 2008 0:41:41 | I have no money, no car, and live in New Mexico of all places. We never get any cons. ![]() |
| #36temetnosceMar 02, 2008 0:54:14 | Well I couldn't do GenCon (my car isn't up to driving across most of the USA and neither am I). However if you were going to hold this at PAX I might try to show. I've wanted to attend that for a while but never managed to convince myself to drive for 8 hours (laziness is one of my better qualities). |
| #37caelicMar 02, 2008 18:54:16 | No GenCon for me this year. I got into this cool new game called House: the Mortgaging. It's fun, but, MAN, is it expensive to play! |
| #38tshernMar 02, 2008 19:04:49 | No GenCon for me this year. I got into this cool new game called House: the Mortgaging. It's fun, but, MAN, is it expensive to play! Heard about that too, but I was told it has too harsh requirements for students. Maybe when the next edition comes... |
| #39Tempest_StormwindMar 02, 2008 19:44:55 | Heard about that too, but I was told it has too harsh requirements for students. Maybe when the next edition comes... You're a CO board member. If the best books aren't allowed, improvise with what you've got. ;) |
| #40tshernMar 02, 2008 19:49:20 | You're a CO board member. If the best books aren't allowed, improvise with what you've got. ;) That post, disregarding the link and that smiley, sounded exactly like something our Sergeants yelled at us when we were to build a bridge over a river without decent materials during a combat training... Apart from that, I lol'd when I saw the picture. |
| #41Blade2718Mar 02, 2008 20:07:32 | You're a CO board member. If the best books aren't allowed, improvise with what you've got. ;) As long as the weather is good, that would actually be pretty cool. |
| #42jameswilliamogleMar 02, 2008 21:40:32 | Who's in the southeast US? |
| #43archerpwrMar 02, 2008 21:41:51 | Who's in the southeast US? Like Florida? I'm in north Texas. |
| #44jameswilliamogleMar 02, 2008 21:43:46 | Like Florida? I'm in north Texas. Right... from 2002 until August 2007 I was in College Station. 2h, man, 2h... |
| #45archerpwrMar 02, 2008 21:51:03 | Right... from 2002 until August 2007 I was in College Station. 2h, man, 2h... 2h? What is? |
| #46cyrocloudMar 02, 2008 21:53:34 | W00t I'm going to indianapolis for a wedding during the summer. unfortunatly it is in june... |
| #47jameswilliamogleMar 02, 2008 21:55:19 | 2h? What is? 2 hour trip. TX, right? We measure distance in time :D. |
| #48archerpwrMar 02, 2008 21:57:36 | 2 hour trip. TX, right? We measure distance in time :D. Indeed we do :D |
| #49nanshorkMar 03, 2008 1:29:03 | I'm in NE New Mexico, but I'm from the Austin area and go back every year. |
| #50keldarMar 03, 2008 3:31:04 | 2 hour trip. TX, right? We measure distance in time :D. That's all distance really is after all. Position relative to time. It might be interesting to see if someone can book space at Gen Con Indy for a CO meeting. Invite the designers, watch them cringe as 4.0 is broken right in front of their eyes! ![]() |
| #5122_Over_7Mar 03, 2008 3:43:13 | It might be interesting to see if someone can book space at Gen Con Indy for a CO meeting. Invite the designers, watch them cringe as 4.0 is broken right in front of their eyes! It might take a little more time than that, but that could be interesting. |
| #52Blade2718Mar 03, 2008 5:28:03 | ctrl-alt-del |
| #53cyrocloudMay 17, 2008 10:54:28 | "meow" (my roar of effort is a little wimpy right now. I was laughing to much after looking up liger on google images.) Any way are people still looking forward to this. |
| #54altpersonaMay 17, 2008 11:00:52 | Who's in the southeast US? i am, but im not driving more than 30 minutes to play... |
| #55Midnight_vMay 17, 2008 15:39:22 | Like Florida? I'm in north Texas. +1 ... Be seeing you at A-Kon at least. I'm in Arlington by the parks mall so it'll be some searcing for it but I'll be there. You whereing your Archepwr shirt?:D |
| #56archerpwrMay 17, 2008 17:11:38 | +1 ... Carrollton here. Weren't you planning on being at Vista Ridge Mall like the Wed. before the Con? I've got my badge registered as archerpwr. |
| #57Midnight_vMay 17, 2008 19:36:05 | I never been to one so I know nothing aobut the process... |
| #58archerpwrMay 17, 2008 19:43:53 | I never been to one so I know nothing aobut the process... Preorder your ticket. It's about a 6 hour wait to buy at the door (I did this last year). Preorder is only about 15 minute wait. |
