A wizard helps too, but that much should be obvious. :D Start as a focused abjurer and ban any 3 schools except abjuration or divination. Take Tattoo Focus, a metamagic feat, and a metamagic/item creation feat. You'll also need to start with Scribe Scroll. (Extend and Persistent may be viable.) You're a red wizard. Great! You lost access to another school, so just pick one besides abjuration or divination to ban. Since you're L6, grab Iron Will. You may be wondering why you're doing this. You, of course, are heading for... Incantatrix! You lose access to your final school. This can't be abj or div of course, but now you have access to only abjuration, divination, and universal. Have fun casting explosive runes all day and determining the collateral damage! (You be a focused diviner and get to keep one more school, but I don't expect people to play this silliness.) |

| #3rabidpiratemanJul 02, 2008 17:30:12 | NO necromancy NO conjuration NO transmutation NO evocation NO illusion NO enchantment Abjuration only Final destination |
| #4phaedrusxyJul 03, 2008 12:42:11 | This could even be playable if you do it with an illusionist and take 3 levels of Shadowcraft Mage. :D You'd need a houserule to take both Red Wizard and SCM, but SCM does have an adaptation suggestion for using it with non-gnomes. |

Focused Specialist Abjuration or Illusion (Gives up Enchantment, Necromancy, and Evocation) Red Wizard (Gives up Conjuration) Can only cast spells in Illusion, Transmutation, and Divination Human Wizard 5/Red Wizard 5/Shadowcraft Mage 5/Red Wizard 5 At level 13 Wizard 5/Red Wizard 5/Shadowcraft Mage 3 Feats Wizard 1 Scribe Scroll 1 Heighten Spell 1 Tattoo Focus 1 Flaw, Earth Sense 3 Spell Focus Illusion 6 Leadership 9 Earth Spell Red Wizard 5 Chain Spell 12 Diversified Casting, a feat from Dragon 325, you regain 3 spells known for you from your forbidden spell, select conjuration and regain up to 3 spells make at least one of them a teleporting spell. Use Red Wizard + Leadership to prepare several 9th level spells at the beginning of the day, using circle magic to heighten spells. Use Circle Magic multiple times per day, making your Cohort an archivist (so he just has to pray for spells, and thus not rest). Use that bedroll so you only need to sleep 2 hours. Start of Combat +Chained Dispel Magic (which has its level check greater than +10 thanks to circle magic, lets say you increased it by 15, you also increased your circle leader caster level with circle magic). You just dispelled all your enemies buffs as well as his items. +Belt of Battle giving you another standard action +Shadow Illusion Maw of Chaos. If they somehow survived the first attack, battlemagic perception means you can dispel there magic before they even try to start casting a spell. If they aren’t using magic than that is what your contingencies are for. Also you have the power of the almighty celerity. With Circle Magic can heightened Silent Images to 9th level, Earth Spell makes it 9th level Spontaneous Divination makes all Divination spells spontaneous, can use these spontaneous spells even with the focused specialist spell slots. Illusion, Transmutation, Abjuration, and Divination. Shadowcraft Mage gives you back evocation and most conjuration. Diversified Casting gives you back 3 more conjuration spells, and in reality combine with shadow illusions you regain all of conjuration. You can do everything better than all other wizards with the exception of necromancy. That is what your cohort is for ;) |
| #6surrealJul 03, 2008 14:41:06 | Throw in that changeling wizard dual specialization, with racial emulation for everything else. |
| #7EndarireJul 03, 2008 18:40:43 | Heroes of Horror 83: "[A]n archivist... must choose and prepare spells ahead of time by getting a good night's sleep and then spending 1 hour studying his prayerbook. The archivist decides which spells to prepare while studying." Sounds like he rests and prepares like a wizard. |
| #8sinfire_titanJul 05, 2008 9:40:13 | Heroes of Horror 83: Except he can't specialize or take the Focused Specialist ACF. |
