#1 magespike Oct 11, 2010 23:17:29	First post...so I'm a newb to this venue. Would like to make a light-armored melee damager. He will have lots of utility caster and healing party support so he needs to concentrate on laying down the hurt.  Would be nice to have a decent AC when in need and some HP to fall back on, but Dmg is priority. Human preferred.  Half-elf is doable. Weapons hoping to use:  Rapier, serrated saber, offhand dagger, offhand kukri, similar. Like to stay away from double scimitar, double kukri, double dagger, spiked chain. 32 pt buy Campaign starts at 1 and goes to 15th level.  Would like to have some good playability throughout all levels instead of finally becoming effective at the end. All WotC stuff is legal.  Would rather avoid dragon magazine stuff. Not a fan of dervish - even though i know its solid, I'd like to change it up. I like Swashes and Swash/Rogues...but I can't use much invisibility/sneakage, as I will probably be doing some tanking. Was looking at Swordsage builds but don't want to be restricted to kukris and claws and looking like a tiger, etc... Not a fan of Warblades.

#3 phaedrusxy Oct 12, 2010 10:35:25	A rogue/swash or rogue/ranger could work. You can get your SA by flanking instead of sneaking. A two level dip in swordsage is never a bad thing, either. There is plenty you can do without being shoehorned into using those weapons.

A Daring Outlaw should be able to do a good amount with Sneak Attack like Phaedrus mentioned: Human Rogue (Penetrating Strike variant) 3/Swashbuckler 17 For feats, Craven is almost required. At level six you'd grab Daring Outlaw, which is what the build is centered around. Other useful feats for that concept would be Deadly Precision and Staggering Strike. There's always ubercharger, too. They do damage en masse pretty well.
#5 lormador Oct 14, 2010 1:27:26	There's the Swordsage 2 / Swashbuckler 18 (and/or some PrC) Daring Outlaw trick: Take the Swordsage levels at 1st and 9th. At 9th level you learn Assassin's Stance. That's when you take Daring Outlaw. Now your Swashbuckler levels all count for Sneak Attack. You've got even more Sneak Attack than a straight rogue.

#7 jgumbyrx Oct 22, 2010 2:20:29	wow ... eliminating the "go-to" stuff makes this a tall order. hows about this: 1) half-elf barbarian 1/ranger 4/wildrunner 10 (maybe fit a level of half-elf paragon in there somewhere for the extra feat) using feat and distracting attack variants for ranger 2) human wildshape ranger 5/MoMF 10 feat variant for ranger 3) human wildshape ranger 5/Animal Lord 10 feat variant for ranger take extra wildshape at some point (but not more than once)
