I was recently reading the PHB 2 FAQ here: wizards.custhelp.com/cgi-bin/wizards.cfg...

Under line 7 it states that you get to add your implement to any damage roll as long as implement is
in the text of the power description. After thinking about this for a bit I realized that most levels have a
conjuration that will allow me to do damage outside of an attack roll to which I'd be able to add my full
modifier. If I used any other power with that I'd be able to get use of my modifier 2x per combat.

 http://www.wizards.com/dndinsider/compendium/power.aspx?id=1435 shown below

Flaming Sphere

You conjure a rolling ball of fire and control where it goes.

Daily   bullet.gif     Arcane, Conjuration, Fire, Implement
Standard Action      Ranged 10

Effect: You conjure a Medium flaming sphere that occupies a square within range, and the sphere attacks. Any creature that starts its turn adjacent to the sphere takes 1d4 + Intelligence modifier fire damage. As a move action, you can move the sphere 6 squares.

Target: One creature adjacent to the flaming sphere

Attack: Intelligence vs. Reflex

Hit: 2d6 + Intelligence modifier fire damage.

Sustain Minor: You can sustain this power until the end of the encounter.
As a standard action, you can make another attack with the sphere.

So in this case, say my modifiers added to +12 (5 int, 2 offhand (dual imp), 2 main hand, 2 staff of ruin, 1 weapon focus).
I could use the attack on the sphere to do 2d6+12 to an enemy and at the beginning of their turn they would take 1d4+12.
This isn't an incredibly fancy combo but is made strong by the ruling to add implement to the damage. This would put
my damage on a hit at 19 + 14.5 automatic, for a total of 33.5 damage per round. This really outpaces the striker
suggestions I've seen of 20/40/60 per tier. Thoughts?

This is the D20 Optimization Board. You want the 4e Optimization Board
