Evening Gents

I'm thrying to build a core only druid (3.5 PHB, MM, DMG nothing else) with maybe a dip into monk. The first three to four feats are pretty simple and straight forward but aftre that I'm completly lost.

I'm starting at level 6 with a 4d6 reroll 1s and drop the lowest die for stats. The DM generaly gives us one 18 for use to allocate as we need so Wis is covered. Also the way we are playing is that ALL physical stats are replaced with the creatures physical stats while in wild shape (I think that there was an errata for that wasn't there?) but I'm unclear as to whether a wild shaping druid gets feats/special abilities from his new form.

The feats that I was planning on getting were: SF: Conj, Aug Summ, Natural Spell (duh), and maybe Improved Inititive. past that I have no idea what to do with only core to play with.

also is fleashraker dino core? and where is that from? also where is venomsomething or other from? I'm re-reading the Druid handbook but most of that material is from non-core books and trying to filter all that is quite a task while I'm at work (the only time I can unfortunetly).

thank you for your assistance (and for reading this far lol)

Yes, there was an errata for polymorph, which is the same effect that druids get when they wild shape. However, if your DM isn't going with the errata, just go with all mental stats as high as you can get them (wis, int, cha). Physical stats are only useful while out of wild shape.

I think Fleshraker Dino is MM3.

Venomsomething isn't a very clear statement, you might need to expand on that.

As for feats, if you dip monk then I don't know what to tell you. If you don't, I would take the improved grapple tree.

I think the name of the spell is venomfire.

I asume that I don't asume the feats of the animal that I wildshape into since you are sujesting that I take the imp grapple tree? Any thoughts on other feats because the imp grapple tree is terribly short to begin with.

you get the "bonus feats" of an animal, things that are marked as bonus feats or b. These feats are different from other feats since you get them regardless of hit dice.

For example
http://www.d20srd.org/srd/monsters/wolf.htm
gets Track
---
For forms in Core, go bears, wolves, lion/big cats, and dinosaurs. While Fleshraker is not core there is an almost as good of one in core called the Deinonychus which gives you four natural attacks and high strength at level 5

Venomfire is in Serpent Kingdoms (a FR accessory).

Gaining feats or not depends on what version of wildshape your DM is using (PHB version, current errata, etc.)

Via the wildshape ability as listed in the PHB, you do gain a form's bonus racial feats when you wildshape into that form (those would be the feats noted with a superscript "B"). Those are the only feats you gain.

In core, Craft Wondrous Item is actually a pretty decent feat for druids, assuming you'll have the time to use it.

Are psionics core for you or not? Both autohypnosis and maybe hidden talent may be useful for a druid.

Psionics are a no-go for two reasons:
1. I don't even understand the rules completely on psionics and I'm the rules lawer of the party.
2. New DM.

I love you...

A possibilty but I'm not sure a bout the useability... will have to ask DM. So I'm thinking that metamagic feats are prolly the best use of feats in loo of other options? I can think of a lot of situations were they "could" be useful but, I haven't played a druid high enough to actually see their use.
