| #1ashylJul 14, 2009 7:15:06 | I was wondering. Their spell list contains quite some defensive buffs but other than that all they can do is trick their opponents with illusions and enchantments. Perhaps a gish build could add a new dimension to the class. Any threads already posted on this subject? If not I will try to come up with something :0 |

I think you can go Beguiler5/Mindbender1/Rainbow Servant10/Swiftblade4 I feel that HP will be an issue, though Minor Shapeshift could help you a little. |
| #3kurashuJul 14, 2009 13:21:52 | You could do: Beguiler 4/Fighter 2/Spellsword 1/Abjurant Champion 2/Shadowcraft Mage 4/Abjurant Champion +3/Eldritch Knight 6 16 BAB, 17 CL. Take two flaws to get your feats in. Earth Sense, Earth Spell, Heighten Spell, Spell Focus (Illusion), Combat Casting, EWP(Spiked Chain), Power Attack/Weapon Finesse, Maybe Arcane Strike, Weapon Focus (Spiked Chain) for the EK's bonus feat. Combines shadowcraft mage and gishisness. Only thing is that you're kind of squishy and you're two levels below other killer gnomes for most of the build -- three at level 15. |
| #4ashylJul 14, 2009 13:30:54 | You could do: Beguiler 4/Fighter 2/Spellsword 1/Abjurant Champion 2/Shadowcraft Mage 4/Abjurant Champion +3/Eldritch Knight 6 Nice build Kurashu! Although the Spellsword doesn't offer you much - the Beguiler already casts in Light armor. I think that the Battle Caster feat from CA works, allowing you to cast arcane spells in Medium armor too :p Definately Arcane strike is worth it, you get no other direct dmg increases from your spells, plus you have quite a bunch of them. |
| #5ninjarabbitJul 14, 2009 13:38:26 | beguiler6/swiftblade10/unseenseer4 or beguiler6/swiftblade10/abjurantchampion4 |
| #6torynJul 14, 2009 14:44:12 | If TOB is allowed, a Beguiler5/Crusader or Swordsage 1/ Jade Phoenix Mage 10/Swiftblade 4 might work as well. |
| #7kurashuJul 15, 2009 4:03:13 | Nice build Kurashu! Although the Spellsword doesn't offer you much - the Beguiler already casts in Light armor. Offers a d8 of HP, +2 to Fort, +2 to Will, +1 to BAB and +1 to CL. Though, if you're fine with only 15 BAB -- just missing that fourth attack, which never hits anyways -- take mindbender instead; we all know the benefits of such! In which case, switch out a feat for Mindsight. http://forums.gleemax.com/showthread.php?t=892817 Check that thread out, it's where the idea spawned from. I much prefer a wizard when it comes to making a mage-warrior, but there are obvious benefits for beguiler -- spontaneous spells and lots of them plus knowing your entire spell list, not to mention bulking up some skills at the beginning and advanced learning and trapfinding. Shame most of the other classes have terrible skill lists but since your intelligence is your casting stat, you'll have plenty of points to go around. |
