My character is going to be a raptoran fighter/storm talon that wields a scythe. With a X4 crit I want a good way to have the enemy helpless to allow me to get some big damage and possible kills |

So you could grapple and pin an opponent, tie him up, then coup de grace him at your leisure. "At your mercy" is subject to DM interpretation. One might argue, for example, that having a dagger or similar weapon poised at an enemy's throat (outside of combat) would allow a coup de grace action--assuming you beat him on initiative, anyway. The wrack spell (SC page 243) leaves its victim blinded and helpless for 1 round/level. Of course, it is an [evil] spell. Convince your ebil cleric friend to memorize it! You could have your weapon enchanted as spell storing, then have a spellcasting companion put hold person in it. |
