| #1rock_dsSep 04, 2010 14:01:01 | Well I was chatting to a friend over the summer, he had been D&Ding and playing an artificer, they hadn't red the update that ment the artistan feats didn't stack with themselfs anymore. But it got me giggling at the though of have 0 gp and 0 xp cost for item creation. Hell along with 0 time you get a lot of giggles from the mear idea of it. I was entertained enough by the idea of it that I began looking into it for a Runecaster and Inscribe Rune. Anyway. The feat's I've come across so far are. Magical Artistran - 25% off of base raw material and xp costs. Exceptional Artistran - 25% discount on base gold cost LedgendaryArtistran - 25% discount on base xp cost If I make custom items that use the DMG's rules for restrictions Skill use - 10% discount Alaingement restriction - 30% Class restriction - 30% If I stack them, boom, free items. A DM ruled that it's culmative, so apply one discount, get a sub total. Apply another, so on and so forth. It works out about 1/4 the normal cost. So my question is this. Do any of you fine CO's know of away to knock this number down a little further? Time isn't really an issue with Runecrafters. It's 10 mins + casting time. I know of the Sacrificing and Distiled Joy idea's. Both of which I'd be willing to play around with, the DM I'm going for with this is preaty leniant. So any idea's? Much apresiated =3 Thanks everyone in advance n.n |

| #3steelblueSep 05, 2010 23:50:39 | Okay, I'm very interested in crafting tricks right now, but I have to admit: I was distracted by "red", suffered through "ment", "artistan", and "themselfs", but couldn't take it past "mear", and the highly unnecessary "of it". So I skipped to the end hoping for a summary and my now-blistering eyes were met with "idea's" and "apresiated", whereupon I had to stop reading and focus on controlling my stomach. Please clean your post up... even if English is your second or seventy-second language, you can at least run the spellchecker before hitting submit. |

| #5dead_weaselSep 06, 2010 4:55:50 | j2.504, Rock_DS is referencing the errata to the ECS, which removes the 'can be taken multiple times' footnote from those feats. Otherwise you could stack those feats on themselves; they are obviously meant to be used in conjunction with one another, but making items instantaneously for no cost at all is, likewise, obviously insane. Gavin, you may want to add the Dark Craft Rewards (p27 Book of Vile Darkness) to the list, referenced by Rock. Awarded by a successful Sacrifice, they function like an Artificer's Craft Reserve, but can be substituted for gold pieces as well as experience points. It should come as no surprise that they also make the item in question Evil, and that Sacrificing creatures is an Evil action. Distilled joy, from the Book of Exalted Deeds, provides (I believe) a negligible 2 xp per spell. I would post to your thread on BG but I forgot my login/password there ages ago. This option ought to be of some interest to other folks engaged in the thread who are not already aware of them. |
