My friend is DM'ing a game, and beforehand he told everyone to pick out an artifact that they'll start out with, and to create a lvl 15 character. I need help figuring out what class, race, and artifact i'll end up going with, so as always any suggestions are appreciated. I'd like to make my character as powerful as possible, but i'm not sure what the best artifacts are. Orbs of Dragons are out though, someone already is taking that artifact.

If he'll allow you to use the Golem Armor, I'd do that... and make something that won't die from hit point damage, at least temporarily. A cleric with Delay Death + Favored of the Martyr works, but the new version of Delay Death in the Spell Compendium isn't normally Persistable.

If not, I'd say go for the standard Staff of the Magi. Since it is a staff, the save DCs should be based on your own mental attributes. So it basically adds a lot of spells known and spells per day for free, and you can recharge it in your downtime using your own spell slots.

You can also use it as a Rod of Absorption, which is actually very nice. Just make sure you can ID the spells being cast at you via Spellcraft, so you can avoid overloading it with charges. I think it is probably the best of the core artifacts.

wow phaedrus. Still putting up the good fight over here? Laughing

I suggest to the OP to abuse experience-giving minor artifacts. You can go from level 15->20 in only a few minor artifacts. Yowza
