Some of my freinds and I will be playing a WoW themed D&D game, and I am going to be playing as the Lich King. This is a gestalt game, so I was thinking about using a Warblade/something progression.
Any imput on classes/feats/whatever he should take would be extremely helpful.

Dread necromancer comes to mind. You'll even become a lich at level 20 And warblade or crusader? Either is good, just wondered. Armored mage should work with warblade since you have medium armor with that class and that will kill your ASF with any armor you can wear

Dread Necro seems to fit him quite well, but the only problem is that it limits him to casting in light armor. Is there a way to bypass that?

Armored mage is a feat that lets you cast in one step heavier armor. I think that's the name of the feat. I see mithral full plate in your future

IIRC it's not a feat but a fighter ACF that lets you cast spells up to your fighter Level +1.

So the deal would have to be taking DN20//Fighter8/Initiator12

Of course, mechanically speaking a DN20 isn't an optimal choice unless you really want masses of Undead. Taking DN8/Mindbender1/Binder1/Anima Mage 10 will really add versatility, for instance.

The stronger choice would be taking Cleric20/Initiator20, which also alleviates any armour casting problems.

The possibly strongest choice would simply be DN20/Cleric20 (and I'm going slightly MAD), because nothing beats combining those two save taking a cleric cohort.

And of course you somehow have to talk your DM out of the LA. If you can't, the Walker in the Waste PrC might be good for you, since it definitely gives a +5 template for free. (And it's BETTER than Lich.)

For another option of a badass necromancer gish search for the Bionic Corpse Mecha.

He would be a warrior-type first, so probably something along the lines of a cleric/warblade. I don't have any books with a 'Initiator' class, so that would be out. I do have to worry about pretty much all my attributes then, so archivist/warblade might work better.

An initiator class would be any martial adept class, i.e. warblade, crusader and swordsage.

are you talking lich king pre-frozen throne shattering (ner'zhul) or after (Arthas/Ner'zhul)? either way not sure how this really fits as a PC.

I would think he must have some kind of divine or cosmic rank since he is the origin of the Scourge, and this ability is divine in scope and an inherent ability rather than one granted by an item. Remember what happened to Arthas in TFT when the Frozen Throne was under assault, the power granted to Death Knights is a measure of the Lich King's own strength-- perhaps they are his proxies in a sense. Perhaps he was granted his rank by Kil'jaeden after Ner'zhul's death, and his rank could only have been enhanced by the growth of the Scourge during the events of the Third war and the Frozen Throne. I would place the post-TFT Lich King as a lesser diety or demigod at least, although some diefic powers don't really fit the WC universe.

Ner'zhul was certainly an epic-level warlock, one of the most powerful and well known mortal spellcasters in the history of the WC universe, up there with Medivh, Gul'dan, and Malfurion Stormrage, etc.

Frostmourne would probably be some kind of major artifact and a focal point for the Lich King's power.

To answer your first question, I am talking about the Lich King after he possessed Arthas.
Unfortunately, the campain I am going to be playing in is not at all realistic in the regards of the power levels of the characters. We are starting at 8th level . The DM's logic is that 1 level in D&D = 10 levels in WoW. In order to fit in a campain with the other characters, I don't think he would have any diety-like powers, even if it would be more realistic.
Anyways, I think I will probably just go with Warblade 20/Cleric 10/(reflavored) Walker in the Waste 10.

I´m afraid he already exists, in the WoW RPG supplement Shadows & Magic, I think the name was. He´s only CR 58 :P

Scary thing is, he´s not even near the top notch badasses in the World of Warcraft :P

For the Dread Necromancer light armor restriction, I remember reading about an armor enhancement that turns any armor into light armor...now what was that?

Edit: Halfweight: +3 (+2 if on illithidwrought Armor) Underdark pg 70: Armor is considered light armor in every way, except the protection it provides.

If spell failure's an issue, tack Twilight (+1) on as well.

For the feat I mentioned, I think it's in complete mage. It lets you wear one step heavier armor and ignore spell failure than you normally would be able to use. So a bard, warmage, beguiler, hexblade, or dread necro could then wear medium armor. I think the feat is called armored mage, but I'm pretty sure it's in CM.

I would do a Cleric//Crusader with revising that 9th lvl power that does heal to do non positive energy and it just heals.

Here is a very good post I saw long ago about making the lich king as a non gestalt character

Techinically though a Archivist based build instead of a Cleric with 1 level of Dread Necro would be a far better based divine metamagicer. And based off my memory Ner'zhul seems more int based than wis based.

Well, the OP said they were starting at 8th level, so instead of being Arthas, be one of his Death Knights.

But, if you insist on playing an 8th level Arthas (really, your GM is smoking something good if he thinks that 10 WoW levels is equivalent to 1 D&D level, it's more like a 5:1 or a 4:1, considering that when the game first came out, 60 was the max, so that would be even a 3:1 ratio), I'd go with a Crusader//Dread Necromancer build. Prince Arthas contributes the Crusader part, and the Lich King contributes the Dread Necromancer part.

And even that's a bit off.

You're not going to get a convincing Arthas at 8th level, no matter what you feel.

out of a quick question, what the heck is a "walker in the waste". (witch by the way i think walker in the waste is bad grammer because it implies there is only one "waste" witch because there is probably 100,000,000 people taking a dump right now is incorrect):P

its a prestige class from sandstorm. I think they were probably referring to a desert rather than other meanings of "waste" rather than what you mentioned.

ORLY?

Since you're at a place that is good at optimizing, let us optimize your grammar. Or at the very least, your word processor.
