| #1true_shinkenMar 22, 2009 19:12:05 | I've already asked for help with this and got a lot of much needed feedback here. I have this player that wants to play a Swiftblade that fuses with another creature using a dorje of fusion engraved on his belt. His character will probably be ECL 9 and I can't think of a way to get his fusion-companion. First and foremost, I just noticed Fusion requires a creature of the same type. That requires me to get him a weird typing; preferably low LA. There are already THREE outsiders in my group, so I kind of don't want more. My world is kinda tight on races, also (only azurin, human, elves, dwarves, xephs, half-elves, orcs and goblinoids are commum; hengeyokai, half-orcs and tieflings do exist but are arare, assimar are super rare, githyanki/githzerai exist but rarely come to the material plane, elans exist but are usually used as mindless soldiers), but I guess I must make exceptions for this guy. I thought of dragon cohort, but then he would be fusing with wyrmlings and gaining very little on return. I thought of a summoning effect to get him something to fuse with, but also can't find it. I throught of a familiar or exalted companion, but I don't know how to get him magical beast type. So what I need help with is a) ways to get non-humanoid type that are LA+0 or low LA b) forms to fuse with of the same type (if it's Tiny it's better, for flavor) |

| #3deathlessjuanMar 23, 2009 21:03:45 | That depends. Are you looking for templates or a starting race? You can take a peek into the Savage Species book for a lot of monster progressions that start a character out without LA and as a DM you can rule that the character doesn't have to proceed with the progression. Same with the Libris Mortis. |

| #6carnivoreMar 24, 2009 8:05:02 | Warforged + Psicrystal .... Share Power+ Metamorphosis: New forms: Slaughterstone Eviserator(+20 Natural Armor+ great Str+ great attacks) Nimblewright(+24 Dex, Rapier hands(2d6(5-20/x2), great Crit attacks.. tripping thrust, Disarm, etc) Fusion Form... Great Str, Dex, Natural Armor, Attacks, movement :D |
| #7phoenix00Mar 24, 2009 9:35:36 | I think you meant 15-20 instead of 5-20 |
| #8hogarthMar 24, 2009 10:09:47 | A killoren (a +0 fey from Races of the Wild) could fuse with pixies, grigs, brownies, etc. Pixies in particular have some nice abilities. But isn't this a bit of an expensive trick for an ECL 9 character (the equivalent of 1800 gp for each charge of the dorje)? |
| #9carnivoreMar 24, 2009 11:08:36 | I think you meant 15-20 instead of 5-20 opps... miss-typed... 12-20 Crit Range, IIRC.... it is a Huge crit range(might even be better) i dont have the Book right now... maybe someone could look it up to see :D |
| #10phoenix00Mar 24, 2009 11:43:54 | opps... miss-typed... 12-20 Crit Range, IIRC.... it is a Huge crit range(might even be better) Sorry you aren't right again, the 3.5 update made it 15-20 Nimblewright: Construct; 5 ft./5 ft.; Balance +9, Jump +19, Tumble +22; Combat ExpertiseB, Combat ReflexesB, Dodge, Improved Disarm, Mobility, Spring Attack; LA +6; Gains 20 bonus hit points (change to Construct type); HD become 10d10+20 (75 hp). Change rapier-hand damage to 2d6+4/15–20, and adjust Augmented Criticals entry accordingly. |
| #11carnivoreMar 24, 2009 14:54:12 | opps... see what brain damage does to you .... thanks.. i knew it was a nice crit range, but forgot the exact details :D |
| #12true_shinkenMar 24, 2009 21:06:50 | A killoren (a +0 fey from Races of the Wild) could fuse with pixies, grigs, brownies, etc. Pixies in particular have some nice abilities. There is a feat in Eberron that allows you to burn action points insteado of charges, I'm going for that. After a lot of consideration, I'm going with a killoren fusing with a wendigo. Thanks a lot for the help, guys. |
