| #1calistoNov 04, 2008 1:38:55 | ok, so one of my friends was talking about being able to critical constructs, undeads and other creatures that can't be critted. It was like a spell or feat. But i don't really have all the books right now, so I was just wondering if this is possible or if my friend is crazy. |
| #2jaronkNov 04, 2008 1:52:31 | Gravestrike and Razing Strike can do it... Swift Action spells that let you do it for one round to undead and constructs, respectively. You can also get a Greater Truedeath Crystal on any weapon that's already at least +3, and that lets you do it to undead. I don't know of any for Elementals, Oozes, and other such things. JaronK |
| #3muertogNov 04, 2008 1:59:17 | Greater Demolition crystal works for constructs as well. |

| #5jaronkNov 04, 2008 3:30:58 | MIC. Pretty expensive for purely situational items though. JaronK |
| #6bednarNov 04, 2008 7:31:42 | Don't forget the Ghoststrike property. It's a synergy from MIC that acts as Ghost Touch, but allows critical hits and sneak attacks on undead. |
| #7pithicaNov 04, 2008 8:48:24 | Grave Strike, Golem Strike, and Vine Strike are spells from Spell Compendium. They all only allow sneak attacks, though, I believe (I know golem and grave strike work that way). The Augment Crystals are all in the Magic Item compendium. The former can be made into wands and put into weapons (via Wand Chambers from Dungeonscape) for your Rogue to use during combat. The latter are NOT expensive, considering the alternative. A Greater Demolition Crystal costs 6,000gp, does +1d6 damage to constructs, makes your weapon overcome DR/Hardness as Adamantine, and allows sneak attacks and crits vs constructs. It can be added or removed to a weapon as a move equivalent action in combat (or outside of combat if you know you're going to fight constructs). Making a weapon from adamantine costs 3,000gp (or 6,000gp for a ring of adamantine touch that will work on all your weapons), adding a d6 of damage to that weapon takes at least one +1 slot (costing anywhere from 6,000-38,000gp), and a wand of Golem Strike costs 750gp (and only has 50 charges). None of those can be exchanged for anything else without selling and starting over (out of combat, exclusively). A Greater Truedeath Crystal is slightly more expensive at 10,000gp, does +1d6 damage to undead, adds the ghost touch property to your weapon, and allows sneak attacks and crits vs undead. The same requires at least two +1 slots (16,000-72,000gp), and the 750gp wand. Both crystals are BARGAINS at twice the price. |

| #9PlzBreakMyCampaignNov 04, 2008 9:44:42 | If you want to get the goose of your friend, just tell the DM to use aberrations without a discernible anatomy or a swarm. No criticals for him... For more info, see my Anti-Precision Damage Types and Subtypes here: http://forums.gleemax.com/showthread.php?t=1078812 |
| #10pithicaNov 04, 2008 10:32:31 | If your DM is throwing a lot of those at you, penetrating strike from Dungeonscape is the way to go. That way you still deal half sneak attack damage to *anything* that can be flanked. I think that's everything but oozes and swarms. |
| #11jaronkNov 04, 2008 13:16:00 | While Penetrating Strike is a good idea, at the same time it doesn't exactly give you great damage. +2d6 damage at level 10, for example, is quite poor. That said, the OP didn't say he was playing a Rogue. JaronK |
