The Character is a dedicated healer who stays on the front line without worrying due to being haunt shifted into a set of Large Mountain Plate Armor made of Riverine. When his healing isn't needed he weilds a spiked chain so that he can manage a large area for attacking.

The Party Make Up:
Scout 14
Assassin 14
Cleric 3/Warlock 3/Eldritch Theurge 8
Cleric 14

The other Cleric is an idiot and only heals himself, he expected my last character(buff specialized Bard 12/Dirgesinger 2) to do the healing for the party. He uses his buffs 2/3 the way through combat and when he remembers his Hideous Blow he uses it wrong and the GM is ok with that. The sheer DPS of this group is a saving factor, but it still lacks any real backbone bacause the GM thinks at will abilities are all taken as free actions!?!? So there are a lot of d6's that come flying at our little group. I know its generally bad form to break a game like this, but I hardly think I'm going to ruin the game as I stand in the back and heal(taking myself out of the buffing/DPS arena) so that there is a lower chance that the 15+ d6's the GM is throwing at us twice a round per monster will take out the party.
Build
Drow Cleric 14
House Rule: The GM gives us 14 in all stats, and we can move points around on a 1:1 basis.
Stats:
Str 14 (14 base)
Dex 12 (10 base + 2 racial)
Con 12 (14 base - 2 racial)
Int 14 (12 base + 2 racial)
Wis 17 (16 base + 1 level increase)
Cha 22 (18 base + 2 level increase + 2 racial)

Why would you bother? If I was in a game with a DM like that, I would build a character aimed at survival, not healing (although that does help). Let the rest of the party die while you just keep on going. Anything the DM throws at you would be useless because you can just get out of the way.

Since you are level 14 already, I would suggest a Druid/Wizard/Mystic Theurge/Arcane Heirophant build. Fill up the Wizard side (which should be a Conjurer with the Focused Specialist feat) with all the nifty get out of jail free cards (Dimension Door, Dimension Hop, etc., Plane Shift, Teleport, Prismatic Wall/Sphere, Iron wall, etc.). Use the Druid side to Wildshape into something inconspicuous, and throw your animal companion into any breaches (i.e., at anyone that gets within 30ft of you), and load up with Greater/Dispel Magics and Words of Recall. Let nothing threaten you in any way and just stand back.

Alternatively, you can do a Wizard/Psion/Cerebremancer build that can have almost as many get out of jail free cards, and Psions don't even have verbal or somatic components to their powers. You can get out even when swallowed.

:heehee Dude, Riverine armor is immune to everything, its also what I use as a body, so I am a survival character. The healing is so that the rest of the party doesn't get sick of my dancing around provoking AoOs and laughing at monsters to their faces. Meanwhile the GM gets bigger badder monsters to hit me with but still has no effect till he can force me to manifest outside my "body" and become vulnerable to attacks/spells.

If you are going for straight healing, look into Radiant Disciple of Pelor. My favorite healer has actually become Warlock 1/Cleric 4/Eldritch Disciple 9(lvl 14 build). Get rid of your str, you don't need it. Instead, you need dex, wis, cha. You can heal at 250 feet away with a touch attack using your Turn undead attempts. You can also buff as a cleric with only loss of 2 levels in your cleric build. Granted your friend already has a warlock/cleric/Eldritch Theurge? Are you sure he doesn't have Eldritch Disciple? And if so, well, he did it in the worst possible way. If you were to go with Illumian, your caster level would only be -1. Of course, depending what realm you are in, you might want to look into the killer gnome build as an archivist. http://forums.gleemax.com/showthread.php?t=655556&highlight=illusionist IE You'll get full spell progression as a cleric, learn your divine spells as a wizard would and be able to dps as a mage. Of course, you have to be a gnome, but we all make sacrifices.

I don't know what Riverine is, to be honest. I have never heard of it.

And to me, I would happily let the DM annihilate the lot of them while I just sit there and grin. Life's too short to put up with stupid DMs... unless you are having fun doing it. Laughing at his feeble attempts to kill me and provoking a stupid DM into a towering rage is fun.

Did I miss a meeting were we agreed to be a$$hats? If you want to let you team get TPK, fine, but don't encourage others to do so. Promotes bad blood.

I second Radiant Servant of Pelor. Maybe throw in a level of crusader at the end for some healing offensive power.

If you can get undying, go for it. Just undead with out the questionable morality and tied to positive energy. They don't suffer from physical penalties.

Radiant Servant of Pelor is just about the ultimate "heal-bot", though against undead it is also very popular. Add Augment Healing and you're gold.

He has a group that ARE a-hats. Read the original post, please. And his DM is pretty much a moron. I mean at will spell-like abilites = free action?

Sounds like there is already bad blood. I am merely suggesting making hay while the sun shines.

In my own Defense:
I in no way condone being an a$$hat in a reasonable game, nor do I suggest it to other players. I am just trying to make a character that will allow me to enjoy the game while hanging out with a friend of 15 years that I only get to hang out with during this one game night each week.

As for class/race/feat suggestions:
 • Gnome isn't an option nor is Illumian, I have to be a drow. GM demands it to be so(I wanted to make a lvl 14 Kobold with 9th level spells)
 • RSoP is a great option if I weren't an evil character*
 • I already have Augment Healing

Other Discussion:
luedre: yes he is as you pointed out the appropriate eldritch class. I don't need to change to use ranged touches though as I have Divine ward so I can channel spells through that without a roll.

AndyJames: Riverine is in the stormwrack book, its basically compressed water between walls of force, shaped into items. Only 4 things can stop it.

Paradox-of-Life: I think the question was put forth badly. Since my body does not age(as it's made of riverine), do I still physically age and take the penalties for such? I think I must, since I can manifest outside the armor, and that would lead me to believe that I do take the penalties. But dying of old age I think is out. I might ammend the build to include a venerable Drow, getting the bonus to my mentals(since physicals don't really matter anyways, lol).

The Prime Suspect

*I won't roleplay being evil aligned because that would entail a TPK with me looting all the party members' stuff meanwhile still beating on the CR 18-25 encounters with my spiked chain(doing tiny amounts of damage) all day till the GM gives into my shinanigans and agrees to listen to my reasoning and fix his campaign/learn the rules.

Prestige into something, id suggest divine oracle just so you can have free evasion.

AFB so I'm doing all this from memory.

Ring of Mystic Healing (MIC) is a must. Get 2 if he will let you.

Sacred Healing(CD) lets you turn your turn attempts into fast healing for your group, this might work if you have a high cha. (oops, you have this..and the cha)
healing reserve(CC) or something like that lets you heal people up to half for free (at will i believe...tehe)
Imbue Healing(CC) is quite fun, and gives your cleric some flavor, its a free kicker, so why not get it. If you have healing domain its quite beefy.
Healing Lorecall(ca?) lets you add more kickers onto your healing, removing status effects.
Insignia of Healing(RW) lets you cast a huge aoe heal spell for miles to anyone that has your insignia. The amount is fairly trivial, however with the ring and the kickers, you start to get some real healing done.

At level 14 you should not be healing all that often during combat. My RSOP did very little actually healing, even less using spells. Don't overspecialize.

Another way to go about this might be to use a bard warmagus(see sig). Thats alot more towards buffbot than you seem to want to go though.

Ahh, well evil and you wish to be a healer you say? Well why be a cleric at all, go for Ur-Priest, there are various builds you can take with him and the progression for Ur-Priest is quite nice, even if you go straight Ur-Priest. I think you should be able to come up with some nice combinations if you really want to. You could go Rogue 3(can be substituted with another class with bluff, but I like the evasion and 2d6 to sneak), Crusader 2, Duskblade 3, Ur-Priest 2, Ruby Knight Vindicator 10. Of course, there's always the Warlock/Ur Priest/Eldritch Disciple route too and getting full casting progression as a priest rocks for that build. Well good luck.

I really know nothing about Ur-Priests and the build I have is 90% done with the game being sunday night(fri/sat I play in another game and work so no time). I will see how it works out, and if it doesn't I will be back to make the Ur-Priest after I have researched it some. Apprectiate the tips.

In brighter new, I may play this healer in the CO game that Cryocloud is putting together.

feintmaster: Something I will keep in mind when making my next non-drow healer. I hadn't seen that feat so its a great tip.

Sorry, managed to overlook your post somehow. Will read up on a few of the things you have here. I specialized so much because I am evil and I will need to get all the bang for my buck that I can(no spontaneous heals).

Touch of Healing I have, you had the wrong name for it. Imbued Healing isn't that useful for my domains.Healing Lorecall is a spell out of SpC, its nifty for removing status ailments. Still looking into the insignia.

I could drop the Undeath domain and the bonus extra turning feat if gives for the Healing domain. Then I might be able to drop a feat or two from what I have, not specializing as much to replace the extra turn attempts(and making myself a much better healer in the long run).

Well, I'll be of little help if you HAVE to be drow, but your character idea (heal others while being immune to damage) is what one of my NPC's is all about. An Elan Ardant (lots of power points to fuel the negating damage ability of the Elan, especially with the Elan Resiliance feat) with one of the mantles being Life. I have her as a very philosophical, but distant, character, true neutral in alignment (though she hangs out with a bad crowd) who focuses on the philosophy of life and death and conflict. She's seriously pretty immune to anything....actually, give me a second, lemme flip through some books.

At level 10, an Elan Ardant has 90 PP (not including bonus PP from high Wisdom). With her Elan Resiliance, that means she can (if she never used her PP for her powers) negate up to 360 points of damage a day (again, not counting bonus PP. If she has 20 Wisdom, that gives her 25 bonus PP, which means another 100 points of damage negated). She can also use PP to fuel her ability to give her bonuses on saving throws....slap good armor on her and she's untouchable. Everyone in the party dies, and she's still standing, using Psionic Revivify to bring everyone back to life. With her 3/4 BA and a few extra powers, she can become a fighting machine too.

Thanks, that is actually a good spell. I think I will start using it.

Mechanical_Pear: Don't you just have to love Elan with all their cooky racials :P

Tactics so far:
Tactics for healing are looking like this:
 • Beginning of day buff 1-2 people with Shield Other, make whole party Divine Wards
 • Activate Belt of Battle for extra standard Action(2 charges)
 • Spend a turn attempt to maximize all heals in a 60ft radius area until my next turn ends
 • Cast a maximized heal(plus 2 points/level of spell) spell to who ever needs it at range spending a turn attempt to do it thru my Divine Ward

Here's the character I''ve created so far. He must be 8th level, he gets 5 feats, 22,950 gp to purchase materials and magic. I'd like some help around feat and magic item selection. I want this cleric to focus on healing and buffing other characters in the group (not so much fighting but will do so in a pinch). Because we're currently fighting some undead and for flavor I'm keeping the sun domain.

human NG
Cleric 6/RSP 2
St:14
D:13
Con: 15
Int:13
Wis:20
Cha:16

Domains: Sun & Nobility (I just don't like the healing domain and it's +1 caster level; and I feel like I'll be able more effective being able to give the party +2 on all those rolls)
I've maxed out my Heal and concentration skills.
Feats:
I like divine ward (PHII); I've used it in the past, it makes healing people a lot easier in combat and the other players seem to appreciate it.
Any other ideas for the four other feats?

Magic Items:
I need some for self preservation (e.g., armor) but I'm also interested in getting items that would support my role to buff and heal. I'd also like to stay within the level limits of magic items for pc's as described in MiC (i.e., no item over 8th level)
Thanks!

You dont need that many points in heal, just get the minimum for the feats you get.

As for items, the Rod of bodily restoration and Orb of Mental Renewal are both good for a cleric to ahve in case of stat damage. Healing Salve for pre-combat prep, and blessed bandages are a great cheap way to make sure you never lose a man down because of a failed roll.

Feats wise, extra turning is good because it gets you more uses of your divine ward. Also with RSoP you get double effedct from extra turning, since it grants more uses of all of your turn attempts(regular, greater, elemental, all that jazz).
