Crusader and Turn Undead

Apr 12, 2009 3:02:47 Is it worth taking a level of cleric or some other class that grants turn undead for a Crusader, or should I simply lay off of it? The reason I ask is for the ability to use divine feats, but ultimately I want the opinions of the COers. You guys know your stuff better than I do, so a little help please?

Note: My DM gives up 'Reputation feats', bonus feats for especially noteworthy things we do in game, so I won't have to sacrifice any of my crucial tank feats.

Apr 12, 2009 5:41:36 A level of cloisered cleric is worth it since it'll also give you the knowledge devotion feat and a bunch of skill points.

Apr 12, 2009 7:18:52 If you have a high CHA score, then picking up Turn Undead is a pretty good idea.

As mentioned - if you are just dipping, Cloistered Cleric is the better choice as mentioned for extra skills.

Apr 12, 2009 11:36:59 There are.... Other ways of gaining turn undead. When do you want it by and for what? That said, cloistered cleric is definitely superb, translating into three feats, a bit of casting, and the ever-excellent turn undead at the price of one bab and 1/2 of an IL.

Apr 12, 2009 14:05:01 Well Cleric is one of the few ways I could find. I can't take the Soldier of Light because its 3.0 and my DM won't allow it. I'd perfer to have it by level 12, but any level really fits pre 20th. If you have other ways to get it please elaborate.

Apr 12, 2009 15:34:46 Well, aside from using Turn Undead to fuel Divine Feats, it also allows you entry to the superb Ruby Knight Vindicator, a truly awesome PrC. So yeah, with a high Cha, getting a level of Cloistered Cleric is totally worth it.

Apr 12, 2009 15:48:14 Knight of the Raven (Expedition to Castle Ravenloft) and Paladin are both ways to keep your HD high, your BAB full, and get Turn Undead. They will cost you some ILs though. Also might be worth while, if you DO pick up Turn Undead, check out the PrC Ruby Knight Vindicator in ToB. Advances casting, IL, give you SH maneuvers, and a few neato abilities that run on Turn Undead.
