Hey, I was wondering what the best way to go about building a Crusader/Cleric/RKV? who uses divine metamagic.  My preliminary build (feats and levels) would look something like this...

Crusader4/Cleric1/Ruby Knight Vindicator 10/?5

Human (Stone Power)

1Crusader1 (feat?)

2Crusader2

3Crusader3 (feat?)

4Crusader4

5Cleric1 "Domains: Undeath, Planning"

6RKV1 (Persistent Spell)

7RKV2

8RKV3

9RKV4 (Divine Metamagic)

Of course, Ruby Knight Vindicator would need some refluffing for any campaign without Wee Jas.  I took Undeath as a domain for Extra Turning and Planning for Extend Spell.  I'm planning on playing the tank role and I'm not sure if it's worth it to go the reach weapon route and use Thicket of Blades (maneuver) combo.  Of course, survivability is my primary concern and is my top priority.  My spell progression is not very good but I'd really rather not sacrifice Crusader levels for more Cleric. Is something like this really any superior than just going Crusader 20?

You could try starting out as cleric rather than crusader, that way you can enjoy your spells a little longer. Take Extend spell and Persistant Spell at 1st level, DMM at 3rd, Extra Turning at 6th...

If you take undeath and planning for domains, you are already half way there and could be persisting spells from level 1 if you start as a cleric rather than crusader.

Toryn has the right ideas.

Thicket of Blades (+reach weapon) is definately worth it for a tank. It's one of the few options to keep people from moving around a tank freely.

Spell progression >> maneuver progression. The best RKV builds are casting-heavy.

And yes, it's vastly superior to crusader 20. Not only for the above, but also due to the action options of RKV.

Thanks. I have gleaned a lot of character advice from these boards over the past couple of years. Thanks to Dictuum, PI, Surreal, the list goes on lol.
