| #1arjomanesMar 31, 2009 22:34:57 | So our party is going to have an illusionist and a couple rogue-based characters. I'd like to set up a character that can be effective in melee (possibly a gish) that can reduce opponents' will saves and also set up flanking. The books allowed are: core, complete, phb2. others with permission, such as ua variants. dmg witch is allowed. warlock, ninja, wu jen, samurai and shugenja are banned. Prcs need to be approved and 1-2 level prc dipping is not allowed. core races, wood elves, wild elves. No TOB, TOM, MOI. No DMM (persist). Beginning at level 2. Probably won't play much past 12-15 or so, judging from past games. Any alignment is ok, but must be a team player. Spamming undead is likely frowned on. If anyone has any advice or links I'd really appreciate it. Right now I'm kinda looking at hexblade and blackguard for basic ideas, but I'm unsure really. EDIT: Here are my thoughts so far. (thanks to true shinken for the skilled city dweller acf) hexblade (dark companion + improved familiar + curses + spells) + paladin of tyranny (for divine grace + aura of despair), abjurant champion? 1. Hexblade 1 - Trade Ride for Tumble. Hexblade curse 1/day. Power Attack, Combat Casting 2. Hexblade 2 - Charisma to saves vs. spells 3. Hexblade 3 - Mettle. Leap Attack 4. Hexblade 4 - Dark Companion, Spells 5. Paladin of Tyranny 1 - 6. Paladin of Tyranny 2 - Charisma to saves. Obtain Familiar? or Arcane Disciple? 7. Paladin of Tyranny 3 - Aura of despair 8. Abjurant Champion 1 9. Abjurant Champion 2 Improved Familiar? 10. Abjurant Champion 3 11. Abjurant Champion 4 12. Abjurant Champion 5 A level of monk for ascetic mage? Enlightened fist to finish up build? 4th level of paladin for rebuke undead/divine might? or should i just go hexblade 20? the pally o'tyranny levels seem to work with my idea here. |

| #4true_shinkenMar 31, 2009 22:54:17 | where is skilled city dweller? is that a cityscape acf? Yes, it's from the web enhancement. Check the Alternative Class Features thread, it's in the Surrealdex. |
| #5arjomanesMar 31, 2009 23:34:53 | I'm reading the 'im so pretty you can't hit me thread' . . . i wonder if there's a way to use hexblade (dark companion + improved familiar + curses + spells) + paladin of tyranny (for divine grace + aura of despair), and maybe abjurant champion? I'm pretty new to this whole optimization thing. 1. Hexblade 1 - Trade Ride for Tumble. Power Attack, Combat Casting 2. Hexblade 2 - Charisma to saves vs. spells 3. Hexblade 3 - Mettle. Leap Attack 4. Hexblade 4 - Dark Companion, Spells 5. Paladin of Tyranny 1 - 6. Paladin of Tyranny 2 - Charisma to saves. Obtain Familiar? or Arcane Disciple? 7. Paladin of Tyranny 3 - Aura of despair 8. Abjurant Champion 1 9. Abjurant Champion 2 Improved Familiar? 10. Abjurant Champion 3 11. Abjurant Champion 4 12. Abjurant Champion 5 A level of monk for ascetic mage? Enlightened fist to finish up build? 4th level of paladin for rebuke undead/divine might? Is this a mess? Thanks for the comments. Very much appreciated. |

Hexblade 4 - Dark Companion 5. Paladin of Tyranny 6. Paladin of Tyranny - Combat Casting 7. Paladin of Tyranny 8. Paladin of Tyranny 9. Abjurant Champion - Divine Might 10. Abjurant Champion 11. Abjurant Champion 12. Abjurant Champion - Improved Bull Rush 13. Abjurant Champion 14. ? 15. ? - Shock Trooper Edit: saw no 2 level dipping |
