It´s level 14, and specializing in evoaction and, if possible, illusion. Unfortunately, my crunch-fu is really bad, and a DM friend of mine asked for assistance in making an inhuman challenge for the PCs :S |

| #3bigk1Nov 30, 2010 14:54:14 | not really possible since sorcerer's need access to prestige classes in order to keep up with the other casters |

With careful spell selection, and use of magic items to shore up gaps in spells known (mostly utility and long duration buff scrolls and staves/wands), it is entirely possible to make a core-only sorcerer that's quite functional. The bad thing is... focusing on Evocation is definitely not the way to go. It is mostly centered around direct damage spells, which mostly suck in core games. You're a lot better off focusing on buffing/debuffing and battlefield control. There have been a LOT of threads focusing on spell choices for sorcerers, and that really is THE main key to making a good one. I'd suggest the OP looks at some of those. Taking cross-class ranks in Use Magic Device is not a bad idea, either, especially if your DM will allow your familiar to use them. |

I can't remember... but I remember it had better Spell Power high arcanas at the time, increasing spell DCs, not just caster levels. I think the Spell Focus feats also had greater versions that stacked with each other in 3.0 as well, right? Anyway, the most important thing has already been mentioned by Dandu: take Haste as soon as you hit 6th level, and thereby get free Quickened spells (which you couldn't even use as a Sorceror anyway...) and go to town ![]() Besides that, all the stuff that applies to 3.5 Sorcerors should be fair game: try to pick spells that cover a number of bases at the same time (offense/defense/utility). |
