Ok, I am having a brain fade moment here, and figured I would turn to the sages here and ask.  The Cleric Death Domain ability of Death Touch is a Supernatural ability that produces a Death Effect.  You resolve the attack as amrlrr touch attack (using the rules for touch spells).

Is it possible to apply a metamagic feat (specifically Sudden Maximize) to boost the d6/cleric level so it maxes out on the threat of a Death Effect?  For some reason I think the answer is No, but I want to be sure.

To answer your question, no I don't think so.

Tome of Magic has things like that for Supernatural abilities, though, but only once a day.  Beyond that, I'm not sure that there is anything else to help you.  One of the more knowledgeable people on these boards might know though.

Empower and maximize supernatural abilities would be great with death touch BUT that is a lot of stuff put to something you use 1/day.  Would be great on a NPC as you could use it on a weaker character (like a wizard) and slay them on one hit.

Since death touch is a 1/day ability the fact that the feats are once a day is not a problem in and of itself.

Well I am just thinking of having a Death Priest return teh favour to a charater./  They have the Repose domain, and it has the Death touch.  So for a 10th level cleric for example, that is a 10d6 roll.  This can be a good roll if you roll high, and the no save is nasty.  But overall it is a finishing move for a monster that is weak and low on hp. (since an average roll will be 35 hp.

BUT, if you could Maximize it, or Empower the ability in some way then it becomes a threat earlier in the fight.  Not that I am eager for the PC to kick even more ass.  She has only used it once in the campaign, ut it was in Return to the temple of Elemental Evil, against the Dragon in the moathouse.  6th level cleric stepped up and rolled 28  hp of damge out of 36, and killed it.

So turn about is fair play, some Death cult nasty with a Death touch all geared to snuff out the life of the do gooder party.  Payback is a .....
