| #1cephidAug 01, 2009 21:32:45 | I have this idea for a wicked and unique campain. Some Deamon lord somewhere spawns a few demons on various plains for fun/entertainment/to test them out. The game begins with the demonic character, spawned straight from some hellish dimension. All he feels is an incomprehensible torcherous rage: he must kill everyone in existance to relieve his torment. He fights continously, feeding of the souls (XP) of his victims growing stronger, but never releasing him from the rage. Eventually, he will have either wiped out an entire world, or died in the attempt. In game terms: The demonic character must always move as quickly as possible to the nearest person and kill it. ALWAYS. No fear, no sneaking, no resting, no eating, no gloating, NO MERCY! ![]() The character is immune to fatigue, and I get a free +1 LA but is otherwise a normal character. So how should I build this beast? As the game will run as a single continuous day, with hundreds of battles, limited use abilities are no good. This is very limiting i.e. no spells, no power points, no rage (3/day etc), Tome of battle is good (refreshed each fight) Feats are good Mobility is good Some way of surviving is good Ideas so far: Blood in the water (Stance): +1 hit/damage after every crit. doesn't end until I go 1min without a crit. If this guy gets into a town, this will quickly go into the 100's!!!! 4 armed (thri kreen stats)+multi weapon fighting. (heaps of attacks) +30 jump and sudden leap, Kukri's+improved crit (crit on 15-20) Lightning maces + aptitude kuri Extra attack every time I threaten a critical (i.e. 30%) (heaps of extra attacks) 1)Thrikreen (Multi weapon fighting) 2)Thrikreen 3)(__) 4) 5) 6) (Improved Multi weapon fighting) 7) 8) 9) (Improved Crit:kuri) 10) 11) 12) (Greater Multi weapon fighting) Sword Sage 1 (after 6th) nets me Weapon focus, blood in water, sudden leap, moment of perfect mind, burning blade, wolf fang strike, counter charge, etc Most of the build could be warblade for d12 hp, Could use mineral worrior for Survivability: DR 8/adamantine, +2hp/level, +2fort/will save (via moment of perfect mind), +2str, +3 nat AC. We use partial BAB and saves. so I can have 4 levels total in 3/4 BAB classes and only loose 1 BAB. So any ideas? Different build? Improve/finish this one? How do I keep him alive (i.e. regeneration?) |
| #2danduAug 01, 2009 21:56:39 | You can keep him alive by using some Crusader maneuvers. |
| #3jandor1Aug 01, 2009 22:31:53 | use that free +1 LA for feral. it gets you fast healing (as well as heaps of other goodness, like +6 natural armor). warblade seems to me the way to go. maneuvers like adamantine hurricane will be of great use in multi-target effects, the nightmare blade series is great for single targets, etc. d12 hd, full attack, 4+ int skills, the only real downside is that feral gives a -4 to int and your class features like a good int score. But they sure don't need one. -J |
| #4cephidAug 01, 2009 23:10:41 | use that free +1 LA for feral. it gets you fast healing (as well as heaps of other goodness, like +6 natural armor). I'd go with Feral but... ...I think it is so totally overpowered it's just silly. Any other cheap source of regen, of vampiric regen? I'd love to use the crusader stance, but Blood in the Water is too good to loose. The other's will only heal me 1d8+5 ish won't they? (at the cost of a standard action too). Any other good stuff from crusader I could use? For items, the character will start with a basic set (at around level 6+) which will improve based on level. (because he won't spend any time shopping!) |
| #5mining_monkAug 02, 2009 0:23:03 | Warlock? The juice won't run out. Ever. |
| #6cephidAug 02, 2009 0:57:18 | Warlock? Sounds interesting. I'm not very familiar with warlocks. Can you post a partial or combo's etc that would work well in this type of campain? Something hard core. |
| #7mining_monkAug 02, 2009 3:53:41 | Sounds interesting. I'm not very familiar with warlocks. My pleasure. For the lactose intolerant, go 7 warlock, 1 Binder, 3 hellfire warlock, warlock XYZ. For everyone else pick up the feat "shape strongheart vest" From magic of incarnum, and go to town with 7 warlock, 1 legacy champion, 3 hellfire warlock, Legacy Champion X. You get 12d6 blast damage in the first instance at level 12, 14d6 in the other case. Pick up Eldritch Glaive as well, and drop in the smallest pouncing build you can find (Power attack, IPA, Spring attack + charge + leap attack+ Shock Trooper + 1 level of lion totem barbarian, and 2 levels of fighter to help you get more charging feats.) Also take a level of crusader for the crusaders stance and healing abilities. At 20th level: 7 warlock, 3 hellfire warlock, 2 fighter, one spirit lion barbarian, 1 crusader, 6 Legacy champion (Hellfire Warlock). Total abilities: EB damage of 8d6+16d6 Hellfire + (IPA modifier + 16 damage)*3 from Shock Trooper + 2 healing per hit all as a touch attack at 10' reach. Tell me if I missed something. If you put most of your points into strength (say, 20 inital STR with a subrace bonusing it) and you have an AB of around 16+(STR=20+5+(5 from items))=26, then you can normally put all 16 points of BAB into PA, for a final damage calculation of: 24d6+10+96 / hit, 4x per round. each hit heals you 2 damage, and you heal 1d6+1 extra using a strike that recharges if you pray for 5 minutes. You also deal +1 damage if you get hit for 5 damage. Use the feral template for fast healing. If you really loathe feral, use anything else you like. If you use feral, drop one level of barbarian for swordsage, both maneuvers you like IIRC. |
| #8cephidAug 04, 2009 4:13:09 | Ok guys. been thinking and I think my build should go something like this: Insane Raging Demon (GENERAL FEAT) {BONUS FEAT} [STANCE] 1) Thrikreen (Multi weapon fighting) 2) Thrikreen 3) Warblade(Iron heart aura) [punishing stance] 4) Fighter {Combat reflexes} 5) Warblade 6) Fighter(Improved Multi weapon fighting) {Storm guard worrior} 7) Warblade 8) Warblade [??] 9) Sword sage(Lightning mace) {Weapon focus: light mace} [Blood in the water] 10) Warblade {Improved Crit:light mace} 11)Warblade 12) (Greater Multi weapon fighting) Manuvers: Warblade 1st (3) Sudden leap Wolf fang strike 2nd (1) 3rd (1) Iron Heart surge 4th (1) 5th (1) Pounce Sword Sage max 3rd (7) Sudden leap Burning blade Moment of perfect mind Wolf fang strike Counter charge Key Equipment 4x +1 aptitude Kuri's Milenial Chain (fast healing:3) Boots of striding and leaping Skills Concentration Jump (+30 thrikreen) Climb Main Points Crits on a 15+ at level 10 gets 8 attacks lightning mace and crits lead to an extra 3.3 attacks per round. And a bite (traded for +4 damage with Storm guard) So 12.3 attacks/round. 18 at level 12!! Burning blade and storm guard and blood in the water add to all attacks. Blood in the water gives average +3 attack and damage each round! i.e 10 rounds=+30!!!:D 2x 60' sudden leap/encounter=full attack goodness. So what do you think? What manuvers/items/good bits does he need? |
| #9mining_monkAug 04, 2009 6:59:29 | if you can take a level of crusader at level 12, as you are always in all stances (unless I'm mistaken) take the healing stance, at 18 APR you will get 36 healing per round.:D |
| #10cephidAug 05, 2009 1:45:59 | I wish! that doesn't work. You can only be in 1 stance at a time. Any other ideas anyone? |
| #11mining_monkAug 05, 2009 2:11:10 | I wish! that doesn't work. You can only be in 1 stance at a time. Maybe take it anyway, incase you get heavily wounded. |
| #12meatzombieAug 05, 2009 3:34:24 | I second warlock, and oppose the tome of broken ![]() But i mean if you stick with it, since you wont have time to shop, you may as well go the whole broken way and take VoP. |
| #13psorowmanAug 05, 2009 3:55:29 | Two words: Soul Eater. First, its a pretty cool class. Second, all the stat increases stay the entire day. Third, the 9th level ability: Any creature you completely drain becomes a wight under your control. The way I see it is that you create a wight, it kills some people, making more wights, they kill people, making more, and slowly but surely, your army grows freaking huge. |
| #14BalthanonAug 05, 2009 8:31:05 | The character is immune to fatigue, and I get a free +1 LA but is otherwise a normal character. If you really want to do multiweapon fighting and you're starting at a high enough level, go for a Sharn from Anarauch: The Empire of Shade. I can't think of a better race for a solo campaign-- at ECL 9, they get 3rd level sorcerer and favored soul spells, various combinations of 3 standard actions and a move per round, 9 arms, 3 bites, reach, bonus feats, and hex portals for assault. On the defensive side, they have SR, regeneration, evasion, damage reduction, and some very decent stat boosts. While the typical route to take with them is Mystic Theurge, since they automatically qualify, turning them into a melee blender is not at all difficult. If you combine them with some Tome of Battle they should easily be able to keep going all day long. The spells they get are really just icing for your purposes. ![]() |
| #15telemon_ajaxAug 08, 2009 22:54:58 | I second warlock, and oppose the tome of broken Jesus Christ, the worst part is that I can't tell if you're joking or not... saying ToB is broken, THEN suggesting VoP? Freaking one-two punch to my brain... |
| #16meatzombieAug 09, 2009 4:33:13 | Jesus Christ, the worst part is that I can't tell if you're joking or not... saying ToB is broken, THEN suggesting VoP? Freaking one-two punch to my brain... I oppose the ToB because its broken, but said if you were going to use it anyway, use it as well as VoP (also broken, but not as broken as the magic items you can get at that level) since he will be killing the whole time he wont have time to shop for magic items |
| #17flawless_pAug 10, 2009 14:48:08 | I oppose the ToB because its broken, but said if you were going to use it anyway, use it as well as VoP (also broken, but not as broken as the magic items you can get at that level) since he will be killing the whole time he wont have time to shop for magic items I also oppose tome of battle, but I also feel the need to point out that VoP is an Exalted feat. Makes no sense for a demon to kill everyone on earth and be exalted. |
