| #2tshernJun 12, 2008 9:26:44 | Posting guidelines? |
| #3ibonetJun 13, 2008 5:43:29 | I like tis combination! As a base of further discussion, and thinking in a human build: Prerequisites: 1.(Sw1) Weapon focus (scimitar), Combat expertisse 2.(Sw2) 3.(F1) Expeditious dodge, Mobility Optional: 4.(F2) Weapon specialization (scimitar) 5.(Sw3) Thinking in a TWFer (that's my case) 6.(Dv1) Two weapon fighting 7.(Dv2) 8.(Dv3) 9.(Dv4) Improved two weapon fighting 10.(Dv5) 11.(Dv6) 12. (Dv7) Greater two weapon fighting 13.(Dv8) 14.(Dv9) 15.(Dv10) Daring Outlaw (shield of blades) 16.(T1) 17.(T2) 18.(T3) Improved Toughness 19.(T4) 20.(T5) If your DM can house rule than TWF feat means you can make an off hand attack every time you can make an attack with your primary hand (it is to say, ITWF and GTWF is not necessary, great if you think that TWF is nerfed) you can add two feats more to this list. I've thought in: Bounding Assault Rapid Blitz You could think in one or more two feats if your DM allows flaws. I've considered, Sense weakness Elusive target Sure there are thousands of different combinations, and I'll be happy to see some of theme. Any additional ideas? |
| #4seekanddestroyJun 13, 2008 10:40:20 | That looks good. But I am going to play a Whisper Gnome. I guess I could have put that in the original post. Is their any way to add Dex to damage besides Champions of Corellon? And using a small weapon is their any way to get about a d4 for damage with a scimitar? |
| #5musaashiJun 14, 2008 0:27:07 | If you want dex to damage, its either Champions of Corellon or Tome of Battle(shadowhand), and since you didn't mention that, I'm not sure if that'd be of any use to you. |
| #6runestarJun 14, 2008 0:35:44 | How are you getting the ranks in perform? |
| #7seekanddestroyJun 14, 2008 6:42:57 | Ranks in perform just from the first five levels. I think you only need 3 to qualify for Dervish. |
| #8divisionbyzer0Jun 15, 2008 7:54:41 | Daring outlaw stacks rogue with swash for sneak attack damage does it not? Why would he want daring outlaw? Unless he's using improved feint taking rogue levels would be silly, since you can't hide or move silently in a dervish dance. I'd probably drop the tempest and fighter and take scout and ranger levels instead. If you take 4 levels in scout and 4 in ranger you get track, endurance, TWF, bonus scout, and bonus from champion of the wild. You can pick expeditious dodge, and ITWF up right there. Track is good, and endurance is a nice flavor feat, and the prereq for steadfast determination. Drop improved toughness, pick up a manual of bodily healthy, and pick up swift hunter, and maybe try to get improved skirmish as well. All of spring attack, bounding assault, and rapid blitz are silly if you intend to use dervish dance to it's full potential. To up your d4 to d6 with the scimitar there is a set of bracers in the magic item compendium which essentially give you something like "powerful build". Make sure you get those scimitars keen, get an animated shield, and bane crystals, and maybe a dancing scimitar as well. Champion is a nice class but the feat requirements are contrary to a dervish. What do you got for abilities? ... I'd say wis, cha, and str are your dump stats. I'd do: 1 Scout 1: Skirmish +1d6, Trapfinding, 1st Feat: Swift hunter 2 Scout 2: Battle Fortitude +1, Uncanny Dodge 3 Scout 3: Fast Move +10, Skirmish (+1d6 +1AC), Trackless step, 2nd Feat: Weapon Focus Scimitar 4 Rng 1: 1st, Track, Wild Empathy 5 Rng 2: 2nd favored enemy, TWF, Skirmish (+2d6 +1AC) 6 Rng 3: Endurance, 3rd feat: exp dodge 7 Rng 4: Distracting attack, Champion of the wild: ITWF, Skirmish (+2d6, +2AC) 8 SwB 1: Weapon Finesse 9 SwB 2: Grace +1, 4th feat: Combat Expertise 10 SwB 3: Insightful Strike 11 Drv 1: Derv dance 1/day, move mastery, slashing blades 12 Drv 2: fast move +5, 5th feat: Improved Skirmish 13 Drv 3: Spring attack, derv dance 2/day 14 Drv 4: Dance of death 15 Drv 5: fast move +10, derv dance 3/day, 6th feat: ? 16 Drv 6: improved reaction 17 Drv 7: elaborate parry, derv dance 4/day 18 Drv 8: fast move +15, 7th feat: ? 19 Drv 9: Tireless Dance, derv dance 5/day 20 Drv 10: 1000 cuts flaw: 8th feat: mobility flaw: 9th feat: ? BAB: 19 |
| #9ibonetJun 16, 2008 3:20:21 | About daring outlaw: sorry, type mismatch. I wanted to refer to Daring Warrior, to stack sw and F levels. You get Dodge or alternatively shield of blades (+2 to AC using two blades). About Skill points. To achive prerrequisites is relatively easy, besides, as a swashbuckler I supose you will have a high, so you will get lots of skill points. The question is to maximize perform-dance ranks just to maximice rounds of dancing. If you take warrior class instead of fighter (described in Unearthed Arcana) you can pick six skills as class skills. Take Dance and tumble among them, so you have more chances to maximize both. Tumble is useful to pass through enemies so you can continue dancing in narrow places. Another ways to maximize your skill points? Able learner, only for humans. Elf dilettante, only for elfs. I think there are otrher ways, but I don't remember just now... About substituing Sw & F or Warrior with Scout and Ranger? Why not. Is another optimo I've been thinking of. Both have great things ang some flaws. The first one allows you to dervish at 6th level; the second one you must wait to 9th level. The second has track and endurance, great, .. or not.... is a question of flavour. For me the great interest in the second one is the skirmish damage and the possibility of, through swift hunter, stack both classes and consider undead as favored enemy. About Spring attack, bounding assault, rapid blitz... is better dancing? Yes. But dancing has a limit (maximum rounds per dance, and maximum dances per day). It's possible, eevn probable that you find in the middle of a combat not beeing able to dance. In this case, the spring attack tree, is a good substitution, I think... keen scimitars? A must! And nothing else by the moment, I think... Good discussion, ... |
